It's literally a road. No signage letting you know that you passed it, or a plaque of any historical significance.
There's a decent wiki page on it, if you're into the history of the area.

One of the nice parts of the islands a small pass full of vegetations that it doesn't make tou feel being on a tropical island. Ideal for an ambush like the French had...... Old times revivi here esepcially if you have a vivid imagination. Close by the Balashi gold mine ruins...

After reading several of the reviews on here I had dismissed this as an option to visit, then a local took my husband and I there. It was beautiful and more than just trees. There is also a historic fort along the pretty trees. He showed us where there used to be a dock, where the Spanish took gold from the island, some still remains. The local also told us some of the legends of the Indian woman and how it's haunted. It was a neat and free stop. Worth the drive.... and if you've been here you know the locals are friendly just ask them for directions or any for a spot worth seeing

Again no sign or plaque to tell you that you are at the Frenchmen Pass. This is on the road to the smelter ruins and you don't even know that you've gone by it. No sign to give you the history or anything, just a tree covered road.

Hard to find or even realize you've been through it. But if you do know you will find the wanderlust in the trees surrounding the road. It is the passway between two mountains on this road.
