Attended twilight NC Chinese Lantern Festival on 11/17/23. No trouble getting parked, plenty of attendants directing you. Wait was short and opened promptly at 4:30pm. You start by walking through Chinese lanterns, all with different designs. Absolutely gorgeous! Then you start seeing the displays, each one has a sign with description.
There were performers on the main stage at 5:30pm. Lots of different food and also souvenirs. Not crowded at all. When it got dark, walked around again to see it in the dark.

LOVED it so much.

i have thought of this review and have figured out how to phrase it. If a friend asked if I wanted to go to a concert at Koka Booth my answer would be no. Our experience for the Plant and Krauss concert was horrific. We arrived to the area at 6pm. Only to crawl to the first open parking lot 30 mins later which was full. Ok next parking lot, full and no one monitoring the situation so all the cars go in all the cars go out. We ended up parking in an empty building's parking lot for 10 bucks that was almost full. There were still people arriving to park in the full lots! Then there was the line to get in. The employee said "I don't know where you are going to sit, last night was full and this concert has 3000 more attendees! So long and short we ended up in the slippery pine needles to the far right of the stage. Really close to the food truck and the ducks on the lake. So there you go. They over sold this concert, crowd control was horrible, traffic horrible. To this day to the hundreds of people who arrived after me, where did they park and where did they sit?

Venue was oversold from both seating and parking capacity. I agree with the other reviewer of last night's Alison Krauss/Robert Plant concert. My expectation were high, appropriately so, as these are two musical greats. Parking was nightmarish. I have been to Koka Booth for many other events and this was oversold and understaffed from a parking standpoint. It, too, took us 1 1/2 hours to park (in a lot that charged $10) after we got within a mile of the venue. At least we didnt have a $400 ticket, just lawn, but the lawn was slam full and our seating should have been called, "in the pine needles behind the trees" seats. Couldnt see the stage. Nice. Their voices are excellent, but it was disappointing that they chose not to engage at all with the audience. I know they have been touring for decades, but a friendly "hello Raleigh" would have been nice. It's part of the expectation of a crowd who has paid $70-$400 a ticket. If you can't see them, they offer no personalization of the experience, it is better to just stay home and stream some of their music from YouTube. That was really a minor disappointment, the parking experience and the oversold venue has really made it such that I never care to go back, and I've lived in Raleigh for 32 years.

Worst concert experience ever - oversold attendance to Rubbery Plant and Allison Krauss and full parking. It took over an hour and a half to travel a mile and a half to get even near the parking lot, and 45 minutes after the opening act started to find out they had no parking left and still a line of cars backed up as far as I could see. Paid $400 for my reserved seat and missed the opening act. Was told to go find parking elsewhere and had to park in a tiny private business parking lot outside the venue and walk about 1/2 mile to the still long line to get in. Was sent to the VIP gate for a shorter cue where there was a woman with her mother IN A WHEELCHAIR who was told to drop her off and go find someplace else to park because she couldn't stay in the VIP lot, despite the numerous vacant spots that included several "Reserved for Council Member" spots. There was no place else to park. Town of Cary sold tickets for every inch of lawn space without regard to parking capacity. Those of us who paid well for seats were out of luck. I don't know what happened to the line of cars behind me but I had just enough time to get to my seat as the band was walking to the stage. There were a lot of expensive vacant seats around me that I know we're sold when I selected my own. Never attending another event here. Grew up in NJ attending concerts in NY and Philly and have been to other venues in NC but never had this problem anywhere else.

It is too expensive to go anytime. When it is free I like to go and walk around the pond. Some of the shows are more than others. I think you should try to keep the cost down
instead of up. I would not go back to the Chessie show because it was so much. I hope they are paying you enough to run the show for them.

The Organizers did a Great job in getting people parked and into the Festival. Traffic was heavy getting into the parking lot but there were several people guiding you to open parking. This was Saturday night so it was Busy!! The lines were long but moved at a steady pace. Once in, you could go in either direction. Kids with families were having a nice time and so did we. It was our first time going so we enjoyed it. The show was good and the performers did a good job. It may be better going during the week since the crowds can become heavy and overwhelming.

Koka Booth really does a great job with this festival. It is worth the trip. I recommend you go early—-at least an hour before the gates open. You can walk the greenway around the lake behind office buildings while you wait but make sure you are in line at least 30 minutes before gates open, especially on good weather days. Adults and kids will love it. Great picture taking opportunities so bring a camera or cell phone.

Came for the lantern festival. Parking was easy. We got there at 5:30pm. $18 for the festival. For the price paid they could have had more lanterns but other than that it was very pretty and the show was good.

Hardly any displays, poor organization. Not worth the price. I was so looking forward to spending an evening with the hubby enjoying the sights but both of us left disappointed.

Every time I come here for any kind of event, I always end up going back to my car which is park too far because they don't allow "PROFESSIONAL looking CAMERA" like all camera that has a detachable lens (really). That really sucks!! Come on, nowadays pretty much uses a detachable lens type of camera.

Oh, and they even have this on the bottom of this review..."Do you have photos to share? (optional)-duh
