Alix is fantastic! This is one of THE best rides I've done. Horses are matched perfectly for rider's experience and are great in the mountains. If we are back anywhere near Bondurant, we will book another ride.

We had an amazing time horse back riding through the hills of Wyoming with Alix! She goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect! On our adventure we got to see so many cool things but the best part was finding the nest full of baby owls. You can tell how much Alix cares about people and her animals and what a gift and passion she has for nature. I definitely recommend that you make the time to make these kinds of memories on your trip with your family through Alix. You will not be disappointed and will cherish every moment. This company and these people are truly one of a kind and so wonderful!

Alix and Sleeping Indian Outfitters is truly exceptional. Alix is incredibly in-tune with the environment. We were amazed with her knowledge of the region's plants and animals and general ability to spot wildlife.
We were also impressed with her training, connection, and understanding of her horses. She had a unique ability to match rider and horse from inexperienced to experienced so that we felt safe throughout the ride.
The country you will ride through is breath taking, and there is simply no better way to immerse yourself in its beauty. This is certainly a bucket list trip if you love the grandeur of the Teton's. Do yourself and your family a favor and book a trip. This is a one of a kind experience that should not be missed.

As a 50th wedding anniversary trip for my husband and I, our children and grandchildren met us in Teton Village, WY. This trail ride was a request of my husband. We are a group of riders from semi-advanced all the way to scared to death. It was a WONDERFUL ride for all of us. Sam lead the way and Alix talked the one that was scared into hanging in there. At the end, he thanked her for making him try and said he would repeat the experience. Not only did they make the experience excellent, the scenery was amazing, the wildlife was beautiful and the wildflowers were stunning. I highly recommend looking them up if you are near! Our group of 12 was quite possibly their largest group ever!

My family and I travel a lot and do trail rides on every vacation. This was by far the best trail ride we have ever done. Alix and Sam were amazing and the scenery was beautiful. If you are in the Jackson Hole area and want a great adventure, you would be stupid not to look this group up. And the drive from Jackson Hole to the stable is beautiful! If I could give them 100 stars, I would.

Sam & Alix were wonderful. Alix got my son over his fear of horses. He started out not wanting to go & now he is ready to go back.

My wife, 17 year old son and I did the half-day tour in early June and absolutely loved it. Beautiful scenery, knowledgeable guide/owner (Alix), abundant wildlife (and wild flowers) and wonderful horses combine for a memorable guest experience. With the help sometimes of Alix's eagle eyes, we saw elk, deer and antelope along with sandhill cranes. The snow capped mountains were beautiful but were rivaled by the green meadows and aspen forests as well.
Our family has ridden trail rides all over the US (California, Utah, Colorado, North Carolina and Virginia as well as Ireland). The Sleeping Indian ride through the Bridger-Teton National Forest was hands down the best ride ever. Not even close. Alix doesn't insist on the nose to tail ride we have experienced in so many other places. Where the ground allows, she encourages riders to ride side by side. Notably, Alix also permitted us to canter a little with the horses which is as fun as it is rare with most horse trail operations.
The Sleeping Indian ranch is a true family operation owned and operated by Alix Crittenden and her husband, Sam Crittenden. Sam's father started the business 40 years ago and they are building it up as the second generation owner operators. It is located a beautiful 40 minute straight shot drive south of Jackson. Do yourself a favor and get out of the maddening crowds and fashionable storefronts of Jackson Hole and enter the hidden gem of the Bondurant Valley nestled between the Gros Ventre Mountains and the Wyoming Mountains.
Our only regret is that we don't have enough time this vacation to schedule a deeper and longer trip into the Bridger-Teton National Forest with Sleeping Indian Outfitters. We certainly hope to return for a 5-7 day experience next time!

We had a great ride and had amazing scenery. The horses were very friendly and good to ride. The guide was awesome and very good at giving a run down on what is going on.

I have been on several rides with Sleeping Indian Outfitters. Alix is the consummate guide. She is superb at matching horse and rider. You’ll cross rivers and traverse majestic countryside. Your trip will leave you amazed with the horses and amazed with yourself! It is a real adventure and worth every penny!

Alix was the best guide we could have asked for! We had a big group with varying levels of comfort ability and she could not have been better. We had great horses and spectacular views. Our ride was amazing and was truly the highlight of my trip. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

I’m planning a trip to Grand Tetons in October. Will you still be doing rides then?
