- T555MTandreav00FantásticoFantástico tour!
- Emire L00Excelente experiencia culinaria!

The class was very informative, fun, and plenty of wonderful food to eat! It was nice to learn about the local produce in the Mercado from Jeronimo. He was also super well versed on all of the local produce and spices and taught us how they go together for each dish. Even though the synopsis on Tripadvisor says the class is taught by Josefina (now retired), it will be taught by her son Jeronimo, who knows all of her recipes. If you do this class, be sure to go hungry, there will be a lot of really good food!

We had the best time with Geronimo! The market is very fascinating and we learned so much. Geronimo allowed us to smell and taste many things we were curious about. His home kitchen was the perfect size for our group of six. He is very knowledgeable about the health benefits of Mexican cuisine and the art of preparing so many dishes. We were very full and had leftovers to take with us. It was a great day in the kitchen!

This was my favorite experience while visiting Cozumel. Although Josephina is now retired her son Geronimo did a very good job explaining everything, and making the experience enjoyable. We started out at a market which was an authentic Mexican shopping experience. After choosing the menu for the day he took us shopping for our ingredients explaining everything thoroughly.
After shopping he took us to their cooking kitchen where he prepared everything for us. The kitchen was small but homey. We were fed very well that day. We learned how to make Mole, and everything was so delicious.
The couple things I would have liked to be different was there was no A/C in the room and it was very hot, but Geronimo did mention that we could do the same experience at our rentals in the future. So if you you are renting a place with a Kitchen that might be an option for you.
Also, it wasn’t as hands on as I was hoping. There was 7 of us and we did have a time constraint so I understand if there wasn’t enough space and time to accommodate all of us actually cooking. Nevertheless we all learned a lot and even our 17 year olds enjoyed themselves.
Not only would I highly recommend this activity, I would definitely do it again.

We had a great time with this class! The class is actually taught by Jerônimo, Josefina‘s son. He is the nicest guy. Explained things well. The food was to DIE FOR. Do yourself a favor and take this class. We took it in July, and there is no AC in the kitchen. This would be my only hiccup, but hey, it’s authentic. We absolutely loved it. Also, do yourself a favor and get the cookbook.

What an incredible experience
The walk through the market through until the Margarita at the end of the meal were all an absolute delight.
It felt like a cooking class, comedy show, and history lesson all at once.
Absolutely great value.

Ein super kurs. Viel erklärt. Viel gegessen und viel gemacht. Schade finde ich, dass man nicht wirklich selber kocht. Es wird einem alles erklärt und vor einem zubereitet. Ab Und an bekommt man was zum schneiden oä.
Was ihm auch tadellos gelingt.

Magnificent !!
The whole experience starting in the market as we choose our food and picked out all the ingredients. The food was simple ingredients but the results were spectacular. Something as simple as pumpkin seeds can be a critical ingredient to a wonderful hummus. Geronimo was as wonderful instructor who was happy to explain not only what he was doing but why the ingredients were good for your health. He chose the main course to match our dietary requirements and everything else revolved around that choice.
We will definitely be back for another culinary adventure on our next visit to Cozumel.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this cooking class. We did the food tour last spring break and wanted to learn how to cook some of the traditional Yucatan dishes. Jeronimo was a great guide and teacher, and we learned a lot about the dishes and how to properly prepare them. We even purchased one of the cookbooks and are looking forward to making some of the recipes at home. I highly recommend this class!

We had the most amazing experience with Jeronimo last week! Jeronimo was warm, friendly, and professional. He showed us around the mercado and explained everything we saw. He is clearly an accomplished chef, yet we felt like he was welcoming us into a special family meal. The food was incredible. Most importantly, we got to experience the beautiful Mexican culture. At Jeronimo's suggestion, we made mole. It is clearly a family favorite. Jeronimo and his sous chef, Angi, worked very well together. They were amazing hosts. I can't stop talking about this amazing experience! I can't wait for another trip, I want to do it again with more family members. Don't eat much breakfast before you come, you will want to save room!

Do you know if this location is close to where the cruise ships arrive. We are cruising and have one day in Cozumel

The class is actually through Cozumel chefs - they will send you instructions to Josefina's home in both English & Spanish. It's a short cab rid- I think we paid $10 to get there and $8 to come home. BTW bot cab drivers could not stop saying nice things about her. Josefina is well know and respected in her community.

Is it possible to do this excursion from a cruise ship?

Yes, we were on a Royal Caribbean sailing. I believe the class was from 11 am until about 3 pm.

I would like to know if we are notified to tell us with whom we will be cooking? The picture shows Josephina, I think, but many reviews speak also of Emily. One review practically gives a bio of Josephina, but I do not know anything about Emily's background. Please let me know how we would know with whom we would be taking the course. Also, can we state somewhere that we would NOT want to have any spicy foods? Thanks.

Josephina conducted both of the cooking classes we attended. She did have 2 ladies that helped prepare the food, cook, and clean-up, but they were supervised by Josephina. They essentially allowed Josephina to spend her time with us instead of having to watch the food as it cooked, etc. She was with us throughout the class and the class is held in her home. I should mention that we also helped prepare and cook our own food. Josephina would demonstrate what to do and then we would follow her lead. She gave us a choice of foods to prepare and we did not consider anything to be too spicy. She is very accommodating and I believe she would accommodate any of your preferences. She asked everyone in our class our “spicy” preferences. I believe the Emily you are referencing is the lady in the US that handles the online reservations for Josephina but I might be wrong. You can certainly mention your desire for non spicy food when you make the reservation but I believe Josephina will accommodate your needs once you are there. We considered her class a highlight of both our trips.
