This tour was a waste of time... from the start. Nothing stated on the website was done on the day. It is ridiculous and absurd that they think they can get away with this type of tour. I am someone who enjoy reading about history and the Korean war has always fascinated me. I really wanted to visit the DMZ. The DMZ was closed when we wanted to visit, because of the swine flu outbreak (That has been going on for months) Cosmojin was well aware of this before marketing the tour and still they continue to market and sell the tour. They don’t advise you about the closure at all. I understand that this is not in their hands, but they sent an email stating that if the DMZ is closed we will follow 2 other routes. Did we follow any of these tours? No!!! We didn’t we instead went to a boring ship and a fish market for an hour! I also booked a tour with a North Korean defector. We literally had 20minutes to ask him questions.

When we got to the peace observatory the entrance was 2500 won per person. The shop was closed after we asked the tour guide if we can buy coffee there. Then the tour guide showed us maps and that is it. We looked at maps! We then went to the maritime museum entrance 3000 won and the fish market. The tour guide then wanted to stop at the Amethyst factory and this is where we decided to abandon the trip. I paid 65000 won per person! What a waste of money. Use other tour companies. To sum it up! The tour guide was boring, the tour was boring and the marketing is false. Never again will I use this tour company for any tour.

Dear Guest Greeting from Cosmojin Travel Agency. Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback. We are very sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied after the tour with Cosmojin and we would like to apologize sincerely. The DMZ is closed due to the African Swine Flu and the guide delivered the schedule in detail to customers in advance. Your guide did explain about the African swine flu and closing of the DMZ area as well as the alternative products but if you didn't understand well, your guide could explain once again and give you more details. In addition, to increase interest in the tour, a North Korean defector, who is not with other travel agencies, traveled with us to try to improve the content quality of the products to customers, we would also spend more time on that part. We will do our best to ensure that our customers are not disappointed with the tour through service training and detailed pre-information for all the parts mentioned above, and we will add contents about history and various information. If you explained your dissatisfaction to the guide, you would have dealt with it immediately (refund or responses) but we are sorry not to give our feedback on that day. Once again, we feel responsible for not being able to make the tour that you wanted in Korea. If you have another opportunity to come to Korea, and if the DMZ is reopened, we will give you a tour free of charge and we will make sure that you are 100% satisfied with it. There are also good reviews of this tour, so please refer to it. We will do our best and provide you the best service. Please be sure to contact us. Once more, we sincerely apologize for the dissatisfaction. Best regards, Cosmojin Travel Agency

After carefully researching possible tours I regretfully landed on this tour. The dmz was closed due to a swing flu outbreak on the day of my tour. understandably this is out of Cosmonjin's control. what was upsetting was that the tour guide accidentally leaked that the dmz has been closed for nearly a month. that mean cosmojin co consciously took our money with no warning that this tour had no chance of running. the tour then turned in to an hour and a half drive, one way, to get a glimpse of what they say wasNorth Korea.we were then taken to a jeweler to be sold rocks, taken to a free museum, then another shop for a sales pitch. giant waste of money

DMZ tour was cancelled due to the swine flu scare in the country. It was replaced with NLL tour, Northern Limit Line, which was an observatory deck to view North Korea.

And with us in the bus was a North Korean Defector who answered questions from tourists. Very infornative.

Our guide, SP Hong is very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information and history about the two koreas.

Dear Guest Warm Greeting from Cosmojin Travel Agency. Thank you so much for taking the time to write your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed the NLL tour The NLL is a very interesting place where you can see real villages of North Korea from the observatory ! The North Korean Defectors braved grave danger, but they now share their story for awareness with us. Thank you for your great comment on your guide SP. SP Hong is a great & knowledgeable guide, full of interesting stories, and with the North Korean Defector, it makes a great combination of histories. Thank you for choosing Cosmojin Travel Agency & we hope to see you again next time ~ We wish you a good continuation :-)

I was signed on for the complete DMZ/JSA tour however the JSA became a no-go and I got adjusted in price to this tour instead. Disappointing but it is what it is. We had a North Korean defector on board our bus and heard some of her story. The 3rd infiltration tunnel is a low ceiling and I kept bumping my hard hat even crouched over. I saw many struggling coming back up so keep in mind your fitness to do this. The train station stamped our symbolic ticket as a souvenir. The Observatory offered telescopes to peer into North Korea, it's as close as we would get. Since the handshake at the summit between North Korea's leader and South Korea's President in April 2018, it seemed so hopeful, but they are still so far apart. This is every day news and the seriousness of this situation cannot be overlooked. A tour is the only way one can visit the DMZ which is the most heavily militarized border. The stupid stop at the amethyst shop is something that should be dropped from this tour. Otherwise I thought it was very good.

As a bit of a history buff I was probably expecting too much. Our guide appeared not to be very knowledgeable. I was very interested in the Korean War and details of how the DMZ came about. Luckily I was able to read on various as we went.

We were picked up on line from our hotel but were then taken to a meeting point and waited a full 80 minutes for the other 38 guests to finally show up.

The tour itself was good, with incredible views from the observatory to the north. Loved going down the 3rd tunnel. That was very interesting.

As for the forced stop at the jewelry store where pushy sales people tried to sell gems. That was so wrong. All day we were hurried along, that is until we got to this gem factory. Clearly the tour operator gets a kickback. If I realized I would have jumped in a cab at that point.

I would definitely recommend the DMZ but not Cosmojin.

Having traveled to over 15 countries, we can pick DMZ tour as one of the best tours we have ever done. From start to finish the tour was well guided and organized. Our tour guide was Mr. Hong, who was very organized, knowledgeable and entertaining.

We absolutely enjoyed the history of the Korean war and the background of the border area with three tourist attractions: a hilltop observatory to view North Korea, a military tunnel dug from the North, and the last train station of South Korea connected to the Trans-Eurasia railway beyond DPRK. The highlight of the tour was the observatory atop Mt. Dorasan, where we could use binoculars to spot the JSA and a huge industrial complex abandoned completely for over three years. The military tunnel for sudden attack or infiltration was an eye-opener at first sight due to its depth of 73 meters under the ground, but it was tiring to walk down and climb back up. We had a good photo op at the Station Dorasan, a symbolic place for the inter-Korea cooperation.

Mr. S.P. Hong was definitely a Special Presenter, tour guide and historian all rolled into one, taking questions and answering without fail to the end of the tour. I'm more than certain that I will recommend my friends to use his service in near future. Even I myself want to visit DMZ again thanks to the professional handling of the whole process.

Picked up at hotel. Brought to another hotel. This is the central point for many tours to leave from. Took a bit to get sorted out who we were to go with. Lots of people milling about. We started at the 3rd infiltration tunnel. Make sure you are in decent shape, it is marginally interesting. Saw quite a few people who were having a rough time making it back up the long incline (length 500 meters, with a 25 degree or better slope). Weather in Seoul was good (expected this at the DMZ), but thick fog was the theme at the DMZ. So we saw close to nothing at the freedom bridge, and nothing at the Dora Observatory. Of course the tour company could do nothing about the weather, but it would be nice if they had informed us, and allowed rescheduling or cancel, but clearly customer service is not their thing. Maybe the afternoon would have been better, although when we left around 12:30 from the DMZ the fog was still there. Don't go with this kind of weather, totally useless. Tour guide did her best, but English was marginal (she was a an English teacher, ouch). Her details were scattered, and not well timed. Absolute low point was the disaster of a forced stop at Amethyst Center for Ginseng crap. Salespeople were WAY to forceful, indeed some of the group felt forced to buy some of this sh.t. And there were lots of other tour busses forced to do the same thing. Tour guide said it would be a quick 10 minute stop, it turned into 45 minutes. If I had known this I would have jumped the bus. My advice just get off and grab a taxi, save yourself, the stop is in town. Tour guide thought we were rude for leaving the store (this was four out of the 32 on the tour), and getting back on the bus. Shop staff tried to stop us from leaving (yeah right!) I told the tour guide I was not impressed of almost all items, she advised me to book a private tour, because the shop stop is part of the tour. For the $55 (not cheap for a bus ride, and a six hour "tour") I expect more. I did not pay $55 for a crap tour (saw close to nothing), and a hijacking to a ginseng store. Avoid is my advice, or make sure you are well informed about what you get. At all sites it was very busy by the way. There is a lot of room for a decent tour company in Korea.

My husband and I had a very good trip. All went as planned and on schedule. Our tour guide, Han, did a great job at explaining things on the way and when we got to the DMZ. We had enough time in each of the locations and didn't get bored or feel rushed. There was no need for the Amethyst visit at the end but since we were in Seoul for a couple more days it was ok to go.

I was picked up promptly at planned location & the bus picked up 9 other people. We were then taken to main spot and 8 of us were asked to change buses. Once we were all on the bus - the guide called out my name to inform me that the JSA part of the all day tour I had booked had been cancelled so I would be on the 1/2 day DMZ & Tunnel tour instead.

I understand that the JSA often times is cancelled for various reasons but the fact that they didn’t say anything when I was picked up and the fact that I saw another of Cosmos-Jin’s coach as well as other tour coaches that had the sign “JSA & DMZ” tour in their window and our sign only said “DMZ” really led me to believe I had been bumped. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed as I was looking forward to the JSA far more than any other aspect of the tour.

As for the DMZ zone, it was interesting to see but the stops were so short (20 minutes) that you didn’t have time to take pictures or if you needed a washroom break, you basically missed anything at that stop. I was at the back of the bus - so that already shaved off a few minutes just to get off.

The third tunnel was boring and uncomfortable. I’m barely 5’5” and had to duck most of the way & and it’s just a tunnel that goes for about a mile down. Nothing to see. Then coming back up is a steep incline uphill all the way. If you aren’t really fit, it’s difficult and will take you the entire stop time to finally exit - and you won’t have any time to visit the gift shop which apparently was very good here. It is common for people to faint.

The cost for this tour was adjusted to 55000 from the all day tour but as noted, it was the JSA that I really wanted to see and they didn’t come through for me so I can’t recommend.

After I booked and paid for the tour, I was a little worried after reading some negative reviews. Either I am an easy going person or people are picky. anyways, the tour was excellent considering the low price, our tour guide, S.P did a great job explaining every single attraction and sure knew what he was talking about.
I particularly loved the tunnel where you actually have to walk up and down the stiff hill for about 30 mins, thoughI highly recommend to wear shoes with hard grip.
The tour was very concentrated with lots of sights, but they were all connected in terms of history.
Overall, I loved the tour. It was good enough for me and I also loved the group since they were very enthusiastic, friendly and eager to learn about the Korean recent history
