It was a great day from beginning to end. We were picked up promptly from the port by our driver Roberto and tour guide Carmen. We were in a vehicle with 8 other people from our cruise, so it wasn’t crowded. Some in the group did not wish to go to the Fort so we started out with the city tour. Our young guide spoke great English and knew loads of information about the area. We loved the museum with the ship replicas and the local pastry shop where we were given free alfajores with dulce de leche. After we dropped off those that did not wish to go to the fort back at the port, we headed to Fort Bulnes. It was a 50 minute drive through the coast where you could see the Strait of Magellan. Before reaching the Fort we stopped to have baked empanadas with red wine, a nice touch. All in all we enjoyed the tour and paid less than half of what others on our cruise ship paid. I only wished we had more time at Fort Bulnes to have a cup of coffee with the beautiful view. Thank you Roberto and Carmen for a wonderful day.

Our guide Alexandra was knowledgeable and our driver Roberto was great. The tour included the Fort Bulnes museum, the cemetery, the main square of Punta Arenas and the Nao Victoria museum with the Magellan ship and replica of the Beagle ship. We did have to pay entrance fees with Chilean pesos. We were given a nice lunch stop with delicious empanada and wine at a very interesting and authentic local restaurant

We were concerned because we booked the excursion at 9:00 am and our cruise ship delivered us to shore at 10:00, however, our guide Roberto was at the terminal smiling waiting for us. Because of the loss of time we had to shorten the tour. Roberto was flexible and very accommodating suggesting which stops were a must and which to cut out. He proved to be very knowledgeable, specially about geography and history. I highly recommend this excursion.

We were 8 in our group and the van provided was clean and comfortable, Roberto even provided some local pastries during a long drive to the fort that were delicious. A five star experience for sure.

Booking the excursions several months ahead for Puerto Montt and Punta Arenas with GV Tours was easy and I received confirmation right away. They specify that they will send a confirmation and meeting location details 30 days prior to the excursion.

30 days before I did receive the information about the Puerto Montt excursion, but even after sending several emails had no confirmation about the Punta Arenas tour. Finally, I read on TripAdvisor that someone with a similar problem used Instant Messenger to contact the company. I tried that and had an almost immediate response. This area of communication is one which the company could improve on. I don't know if the confirmations for the two ports is handled by two different offices or what the problem actually was, but it was a little unnerving to have emailed several times with no response.

The tours themselves were very good. Luis, our guide in Punta Arenas, was particularly enthusiastic. He was extremely informative and at one point even dressed in a costume to make our visit to an attraction even more interesting.

We saw a great deal in both locations at a much better price and in a smaller group than we would have had we booked a similar excursion with the ship.

Thank you for your time. I appreciate your feedback. We receive over 3,000 passengers every cruise season, so I am sorry if our e-mail responses have been a little slower than usual. We will make sure next season that we are on top of our game in that area so that we are at the same level as our excursions which you seemed to love. Thank you so much again for your review!

Went as a private trip from cruise ship using Viator. There were 8 of us on the trip. We headed out to Fort Bulnes. The credit card machine only worked intermittently & they wouldn’t except dollars only a couple of us had Chilean pesos. It was the same in the museum gift shop. We must have spent over 40 minutes trying to get tickets for the park. We then decided to walk the 2 km to the fort. This again took time up & I think our guide should have stopped us doing that . The result of this episode meant we ran out of time for getting back to the ship. We didn’t go to the Sara Braun Palace & we drove to the Nao Victoria museum, but didn’t have time.
Our guide & driver were friendly, however, they needed to regulate us to ensure we saw everything. Also our guide needed more knowledge about eg how people lived, worked flora & fauna etc especially when we drove out to Fort Bulnes.
Addressing these 2 issues would make the tour good value for money, but for our group it was a little frustrating.

The tour started off ok, but soon went downhill!

The road in the national park was rough and full of pot holes. The driver actually ran off the road trying to avoid one. We were left leaning precariously over the edge. We had to climb out of the driver's door one by one. Luckily no one was hurt!

The sights and the museum in the national park were fine, but after this was quite boring. We left early and walked back to the ship ourselves.

Hi there! I am so glad you mentioned the last part, now I know who you are because you were the only two passengers that never came back at the time the guide said to meet. Thanks to an e-mail that I received the day after your tour from another passenger in your group which said "Carmen did a great job yesterday, The couple that disappeared from our tour prior to going back to the ship did indeed walk back to the terminal and was on the tinder ship before we were, all was good! Thanks" So I guess not everyone in your vehicle didn't have a good time, but I am sorry you did. We cater to an average 5,000 passengers each year and we strive to please everyone but it doesn't always happen. Please know, we have NEVER had an accident with any of our vehicles, not once. What you stated of "leaning over the edge" is very misleading as you weren't over the edge of a hill or a cliff. Your lives were never in danger. The car went to the side of the road a little too far due to the heavy rain and huge pothole that the driver missed. Nevertheless, that should never happen again and I will inform my drivers about this incident so that doesn't happen again. I can definitely understand that it can be a scary experience and that is not what I want my customers to leave with. I appreciate taking the time to write to us and we wish you a great trip. Kind regards, Victoria Stein

Carmen did an excellent job, unfortunately Princess Cruise lines are not open about when private tour attendees would be allowed on shore! The honesty and logistics was terrible.
The tour was worth the money, the 15 passenger bus was well maintained and comfortable for the 10 of us, the driver friendly and competent.
The vista at the Fort was great overview, and the Museum gave a good history of the Striates, in Spanish and English.
Would recommend the tour

We were very pleased with our tour of Punta Arenas, feeling that we saw the most important sites and learned a great deal about the history of this area. Our guide, Gerardo, was extremely informative, and both he and our driver, Fernando, were helpful and accommodating to my husband's mobility limitations. The tour was well-paced and we had plenty of time to spend at each stop.

We did the tour from a cruise ship, we were picked up promptly at 8:30 although there was a bit of confusion about the pick up time with the other people on the tour , this could maybe be made a bit clearer. Our guide Guarado and driver Fernando were excellent, we visited Fort Bulnes first, stopping on the way to take photos of dolphins in the bay . Guarado was very informative. After we returned to Punta Arenas we had a tasty lunch , visited everywhere on our itinerary and returned to the cruise ship in plenty time . Overall it was a good tour made excellent by an interesting, informative, and very personable guide

We thoroughly enjoyed the small group shore excursion which took us to historical Fort Bulnes (extra $22 admission), the city, and the museums. Driver and guide were very knowledgeable and friendly. They stopped along the way so that we could see the dolphins frolicking and feeding along the shoreline. We had delicious wine, coffee, soda, and homemade empanadas and bread included in price during our lunch stop. The historical reconstructed ship museum was well worth the $7 extra admission. Total price was still way less than what the cruise ship charges. Highly recommended.
