Very fun and relaxing. We helped get the sails up. There were only 15 on our boat which was great. The day was great. The staff was very knowledgeable with local history. The beauty is amazing.,

The attendant at Portland Tall Ship Cruise was not aware of our purchase. It took them about 30 minutes to get it figured out that we purchased the tickets from Trip Advisor. In addition, the tickets were $30 cheaper per person if we would have purchased it from the attendant at Portland Tall Ship Cruise instead of Trip Advisor. What a rip off.

Tour: great, as promised. Booking experience: horrible. Tripadvisor charged nearly 50% more than what it costs to book directly with Portland Schooner. Tripadvisor's "low price guarantee" is worth nothing for this tour – somewhere in the fine print they exclude this trip on a technicality. I am done using Tripadvisor for any bookings – it is not an honorable company. The tour company itself is fine, offers a great time on the water (we were booked for a 2-hour public sail). We recommend this as a nice adventure.

This tour operator cancelled our tour last minute leaving us with no options for a tour. When questioning the change, we discovered they decided to maximize their revenue by adding another tour time because a cruise ship was in port, and moving our tour to a later time which we couldn’t make because our cruise ship was leaving. So they left us stranded. Their attitude was, oh well. Here’s your money back. We were left with no tour for this port because of their last minute cancellation as everything else was already booked. Do not use this tour company. They are not reliable and unapologetic for destroying our vacation.

Being able to stand and feel the wind as it blew into my face with the sails down was magical. I appreciated the help getting a wonderful photo of me with a lighthouse behind me.

Tall Ship operator and crew were great! But TripAdvisor overcharged! TripAdvisor ad said $62 per adult but I was charged $80 per adult.
The tour company was selling tickets for $55!
I’m ok paying a $7/ticket transaction fee but not $28/ticket.

We sailed on a beautiful day - loved the views and the company. (Very nice people on the trip with us.) Loved seeing the Maine shore line and light houses. One thing that I note - I was under the impression that this was somewhat of a "tour" i.e., the staff on the boat would be tour guides giving us information on what we were seeing. This didn't happen - they were friendly enough but only gave responses if asked questions. And, I would note many times if the answer wasn't "I don't know" the answers were guesses - not accurate. For example: someone asked about Cushing Island - who it was named after and who lived there. They didn't know who it was named after but said it was owned privately by two families who lived there. A quick Google search (on our phones, on the boat) told us who it was named after and that 45 families had ownership/lived there. Perhaps my expectation was off and this wasn't to be a tour, but I would encourage the teams on the boat to be a little more knowledgeable about what we are seeing.

Russ and crew were terrific!
To be honest, I was a bit apprehensive about this. My husband was very excited to go, so I planned to “tough it out”
It was great to get out on the bay. We had some decent wind so got a little lean & speed, but nothing frightening.
I’m very glad we did this excursion.

We were so fortunate to do this sail on a perfect Fall day with warm weather and sunny skies. It was just a perfect sail to get a firsthand experience of this beautiful boat in action - and we were asked to help hoist the sails, which was very fun! The crew works hard and are so welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. This was a very relaxing way to spend a couple of hours while in port.

It was a little bit of a walk but not too bad at all. My husband and I both are in our 60’s and have had our knees replaced but it was not a bad walk at all.

My sister uses a mobility scooter for longer distances, but for short ones she uses two canes. How far is it from getting out of our car to the ship and will she be able to get on the ship?
