Lovely little walk to see the memorial. Be nice on a sunny day to take a picnic and spend sometime enjoying the views.

Having known about this walk for ages, we finally decided to do it. We set off from the "make do" spill-over car park for a local well known national museum. and walked up the short, but steepish path towards the memorial. The path for the walk veers off to the right before the memorial, and continues for quite some way, with beautiful views off to the right. You can't see much to the left, as it's barricaded to stop people falling into the huge quarry there. Eventually we approached the end of the line of the local well known national museum. Here, we had the choice of taking the path down to Wakebridge, or waiting for a tram and getting off at the next stop. This is what we chose, we then took the "Woodland Walk", again giving some lovely views over the hills to the west. Eventually the walk ran out and we had to enter the museum before we could exit back to the main road - a good hour and a half gentle stroll

Walked up from Cromford canal to view the church and market square where there are places for refreshments and food. Worth going up Sandy lane past the Crich old 'reading room' to the Jubilee of Queen Victoria through stile to area known as the Tors with great views over the countryside (warning signs dangerous drop over wall) then down the Tor steps

One of my favourite walks in Crich is up Sandy Lane and along the tops down to Crich Chase woods.
Lovely views and very impressive bluebells in spring.

it's possible to walk up the ancient railway line from bullbridge up to the lower/old quarry at Crich, and onto the upper/new quarry. Then back down through Crich and onto the other historic (Stevenson's) Railway path via Ambergate Reservoir (though you have to be careful now, because of the renovation works,) and back down to the canal again. A stunning walk, with beautiful views and history thrown in - marvellous.

Crich is a lovely village in itself and I've been a fan of visiting since I was young. However, I had never attempted this walk before.
The walk begins just down the lane next to the Post Office and takes you past a school. It takes you through fields, woodland and farms and you can (depending on the time of year) marvel at the wildlife such as sheep, horses, redstarts, butterflies and squirrels. On my visit I was fortunate enough to see many amazing things. Lambs, a field of wheat that was visually stunning and beautiful views across the local area.
Unfortunately for us, it began to thunder and we got drenched. This also meant that the trail was intensely muddy, a warning to anyone going out in inclement weather. Because a lot of the walk is uphill I can sure tug on those tendons getting stuck in all that mud.
After making it over a few fields full of sheep we arrived at an amazing location. The ruins of Wingfield Manor. Brilliant for photo opportunities!
All in all the walk was 6 miles. I recommend it to those who like walks, but not for the unfit due to it's uphill nature in places. I also recommend good walking boots or wellies to contend with possible mud. (Let's just say I had my boot sucked clean off and I ended up squelching the rest of the way.)
Things you'll need:
Good boots or wellies
A packed lunch
Liquids
Map
Compass
Camera
Mini first aid kit
Waterproof jacket just in case
Insect repellant
Long trousers (A huge amount of nettles! )
Stamina

Hi where is the best place to park on Saturday 20th July 2019 for the. Crich walk? The route I have says start at Market Place near the post office. I can see from maps that there are a few cars armed outside the post office but I assume this is time limited. Thank you for any advice 😃
