Booked our visitor nights over the phone, then was met by a lovely dock keeper to take our lines and introduce us to the facilities. The wet rooms in the shower block were much enjoyed after our two previous nights on a bouy in Fowey.

We planned to go to Sutton Harbour but on arrival they were full and redirected us to King Point Marina. It's hidden away just past the Hoe in an old dock near the Ferry Terminal.
The staff are so welcoming, waiting on the pontoon to take our ropes and welcome us with all the information about the launderette, showers and lounge. Everything is spotlessly clean and the residents are chatty and friendly.
The Dock is the marina restaurant overlooking the marina, a modern place serving fabulous food and open from breakfast through to dinner and always fairly full.
Princess Boats carry out their PDI on new boats in the marina, so there's always people about, but they never disturb you despite us being moored on a pontoon adjacent to one of their new boats undergoing its PDI and rectification.
Although it's a little further to walk to the town centre it took us exactly 10 minutes and we were at the shops near the indoor market, really convenient.
We enjoyed it more than the hustle and bustle of Sutton Harbour which is in the Barbican which at weekends can be a little noisy.
King point is lovely and so secure. No wash or movement and well sheltered from any wind.

The marina is sheltered and with good amenities and the berthing master is extremely helpful and attentive.
However:
this place is more like staying in a working shipyard than a premium marina. There are about a dozen Princess yachts here, with several tens of Princess employees streaming up and down the dock all day. There is no monitoring of their coming and going and consequently no security and no privacy. Work starts at 07:30 in the morning, and last night workers were still using power tools and hammers up to 23:10. When i requested (at 22:45) that they keep the noise down i was ignored. The bin area is used as a smoking corner and is consequently awash with butts.
There is no WiFi on the dock, and even in the office it's patchy.
This place needs to decide whether it is a marina or a shipyard, and in the meantime should not be charging premium rates for a poor experience.
I would suggest that you find other places to stay in Plymouth and avoid King Point until such time as they resolve which is their preferred function.

Most of the births are used by large Princess motor yachts. Presumably as storage before delivery to owners elsewhere. Mill bay Focks, once the Great Western Docks have long since been substantially filled in and used for ferry port marshalling and queuing and the edges are badly filled with piles of stone and concrete. There are two large fuel tanks dominating the narrow entrance. There is a bland modern brasserie style bar cafe above the Marina office. The eastern side of the Marina is a partially developed cheap flats area and the council seem to be dithering over a new entrance 'boulevard' which looks a bit of a mess. The Marina is a stiff walk from all but a jaded part of local nightlife. There are several other marinas with better facilities and nearer more interesting parts of the waterfront and amenities.
