Returned for a reunion, loved the beauty of Lady Margaret Hall, the gardens, library and the dinning hall had the most wonderful food available for breakfast. We stayed in the student rooms during the summer time, showers were a bit tight but over all a comfortable stay. The library is one of my favorite places not just for the wonderful smell of the books but the ability to sit down and comfortably explore any topic one could desire. It is off the beaten path but in walking distance to everything down town. Loved the history of all the other colleges and the grounds. Highly recommend visiting.

Best gardens of any college and right on Oxford University Park. Good balance between manicured gardens and wild areas. You can even walk on the grass!

Away from the crazy touristy part of Oxford, Lady Margaret Hall (LMH) is a wonderful college in the University ecosystem. My son and I went to Open Days this year and toured the grounds and listened to the staff speak about life at the college. So approachable and welcoming, LMH has a very distinct personality that we both felt was magnetic. Highly recommend!

Had the food here when I stayed here for interviews and it was varied and tasty. Portions of fish and meat could have been a bit bigger, though.

I visited LMH for an interview in the first week of December, and found it to be as beautiful and welcoming as expected. I was given a ground floor room in the Deneke Building; this was especially helpful due to my disability, and I was only a corridor away from the dining hall. Despite this, there were no issue with noise or busyness - staff and other guests were 100% considerate of others who were studying (or sleeping) in their rooms.
I found my room to be exceptionally spacious and the bed was more comfortable than my own at home! I had a sink behind a cupboard for easy access, as well as plenty of storage space. I was a little bit disappointed with the light levels (the windows were very high up the wall and subsequently did not brighten the room very well) as I am partially sighted, but I had been provided with multiple lamps and adjustable lights to compensate. Although the rooms were not en-suite, there were plenty of showers and toilets on the corridor (I counted at least 3!) - though they were a little bit eerie! The shower pressure is very high, so I would say do be aware of that and if it will cause a problem, speak to a member of staff and they will be more than happy to help. My radiator did not work, and I did not report this as I was not staying for a great length of time, but I have no doubt that if I had reported the issue it would have been resolved immediately.
The staff themselves couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. The porters were lovely; when my friend locked herself out of her room early on Monday morning they laughed it off and allowed her to borrow the spare key with no issues. The student runners helping us navigate to and from interviews were lovely, and everyone said hello to you. I'd like to give a special mention to the electrician who, whenever I walked down the corridor with my long cane, made a special effort to move his ladder etc. and tell me where it was safe to step. He also wished me luck on multiple occasions - where else do you get such genuinely lovely staff?!
In terms of location, I'm aware people are wary of LMH due to it's distance from the city centre. However, in reality it isn't that much of a walk - or a bike ride - once you know the route! Plus, the isolation, in my opinion, adds to the atmosphere and tranquillity of the college.
All in all, LMH is without a doubt the best college I have stayed at. I was honoured to be invited to an interview there, and I would be absolutely ecstatic to spend a further 3 years studying in this beautiful, traditional college.

'I remember often' is a translation of the motto for Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, known as 'LMH' for short. Doubtless all those who have studied there have happy memories of their time at a college in a location just north of University Parks with extensive gardens adjacent to the river containing tennis courts and punt hire facilities and within easy reach of the Cherwell boathouse. It was founded in 1878 as the first all women's college at Oxford but which has been co-educational since 1979. It is named after Henry VII's mother Lady Margaret Beaufort who was a patron of scholarship and learning. Its first principal was Elizabeth Wordsworth, the great niece of the poet William Wordsworth. Its main building the Wolfson Quad is built to a late 17th century French Renaissance design. The Talbot Building dates from 1810. Following a 2005 master plan for its extension the Piper Partridge Building opened in 2010 which has a 136 seat theatre and a new dining hall. Its alumni include Nigella Lawson, Michael Gove and actor Samuel West.

Off the beaten path of most Oxford visitors the vast gardens of this 19th century former women college are a gem one shouldn't miss. Main gate is currently undergoing renovations so you will enter through Porter's Lodge to the left. Enjoy the stroll to the Cherwell and - if related to the College - punting with the college owned boats.

I stayed at Lady Margaret Hall on a bed and breakfast basis. The buildings are set in beautiful gardens near the river and the student room was modern, quiet and more than adequate.
The breakfast had choice for everyone and the staff extremely helpful and friendly.
Strongly recommended.
