Have sometimes travelled to Meersbrook Park for the last 7 years while visiting Sheffield and I can say that its quite a beautiful park with scenic views towards the city centre and surrounding hills from the top, even though some of the hill slopes in which the park lies upon can be a bit steep, while there are some sports facilities like tennis courts towards the bottom of the park. Not to mention most of the time I go there, it is relatively quiet and peaceful without too many people, so it definitely makes for a somewhat quiet spot to sit & view the city. My only issue with this park, although very minor, is the lack of a cafe considering it is quite a big park but apart from that, it definitely is one of my favourite parks of the city.

Some interesting views of the city and plenty of space to rest or play. The Bishops House is worth a look. Could do with more plants to bring some colour.

Living next door to the park, i might be bias, but Meersbrook is one of the best parks in Sheffield.
Very much a community park, loads of activities seem to happen on the spur of the moment, dancing, yoga, fireworks night (a particular favourite), people just seem to gravitate to the Park when something is happening.
Great for families picnicing, Meersbrook has a playground at the top and bottom of the park, a skate parc, football pitch, basketball and tennis courts, all appear to be free of charge.
Great views over Sheffield, equally as spectacular in the day, evening or night, a very photogenic spot, don't miss out on Bishops House, opens weekends and free of charge, there are always things going on at the walled garden as well.

Extending all the way up the side of a hill, it's mainly down to grass, but there are playgrounds for the children, larger areas for grown up games; many places are fenced off to prevent dogs and there inevitable doings being spread around. Some areas have a distinctly wildish flavour to them.
Up at the top of the hill, the views across the city are well worth the climb.

Only found out about this delightful little place in the last few years and find the Garden Party a great afternoon out. Apart from seeing the garden and the views, there is live music and dancing, cakes and drinks and lots of plants to buy. A lovely afternoon for all ages, especially if the weather is fine!

Last July was the first time I visited this park and I can assure you it won't be the last. When you get to the top, the view of the city is magnificient and if it's not that windy you can have a hell of a good time admiring every corner of Sheffield.
The only problem is that it's in one of the hills of the city and if someone uses a wheelchair or has mobility problems it can be really tiring, otherwise the walks around the park are splendid.
Apart from the view at the top of the park there's a surprise which awaits you, the Bishop's House. A wonderful example of past architecture typical in many parts of England. When I arrived there it was closed so I'll have to come back to see it well.
Sheffield has lots of parks but this one boasts of its high location which allows visitors to admire the "steel city".

Myself and partner visit here regularly with our 3 children aged 3, 19m and 7m. We live at the opposite end if the city closer to Chesterfield but there's no decent parks near us at all but are more than happy to travel when's we find somewhere nice. It is our "go to" park for weekend evenings after work as it's always empty and it's completely closed off. All equipments is brilliant for our age children, they'd spend all day here and we feel comfortable enough to let them run off and play without having to stay right behind Gem constantly. Equipment could do with an update and refresh but it doesn't appear that anything is broke, just a little old and outdated. Also lots of other stuff to do, skate park, courts and loads of fields for picnics! Recommend if you are passing or want a quiet park to visit!

Fantastic location and a great view of Sheffield.
Has lots of different areas to it- the top part feels a lot more wild and simple than the bottom part and there is a wooded area too.
Tucked away just outside the centre of the city.
