You can tell right away that Jose and Miguel live and breath fishing. Miguel has his degree in biology in which he studied tuna. Jose has been deep sea fishing since he was a child and I think he basically eats fish everyday. Both where extremely knowledgeable and I would highly recommend them to anyone who likes targeting pelagic fish!

Home is where Alabote is!
It was my second time fishing with José& Son Miguel aboard the alabote.
Expections were high, Results were bigger.
Those fishermen are the Best guides you can ever find, even some days can be hard, they will find the fish and put you on.
Very friendly and Kind, professional (I liked the smart choices of the lures, not just putting something on more like what is the best right now with sea conditions weather , are they working good... reeling line in and out to get the best out of the bait), everytime looking that their customers get the Best out of the day.
They will take any effort for fishing.
They don't Look for Just earning money, their First priority is getting fish, big fish.
Most beautiful day was day 3, going to Princess Alice Bank, starting 3am in the morning. The others were awesome too but that day I will never forget!
I had my 3 Best days in a breathtaking atmosphere seeing whales, dolphins, sharks and beside that I got any fishing Information explained even I was Not asking for. Awesome!!
Result of 3 days 3-10 on Blue Marlin with a fish of a lifetime, a 800 pounder!
All in all, those fishermen did my year 2023.
I am proud to be a Part of your boat again and looking forward to come back once again.

make sure you go fishing with Jose and Miguel! We saw dolphins, we went out to where the fishing was good, and food/refreshments were ample. The highlight of the day was landing a hefty tuna that weighed more than I did. On these trips, not only will you get a thorough rundown of the day's program peppered with observations of seabird feeding and water surface changes from fish oil, but Miguel will share a number of fascinating marine biology facts. If Alabote weren't booked for the remainder of my stay, I'd have gone again! 10/10 would repeat - experience of a lifetime. If you're worried you won't remember your best catch, rest assured a gopro video will come after your outing, preserving memories for years to come. Thanks again!

I'd highly recommend fishing with Alabote. Jose and Miguel are professional, efficient, and really ensure a great customer experience. Beautiful views, big tunas, solid conversation- overall an awesome day!

Nach 8 aufregenden Hochsee-Angeltouren in 2017 und 2018 mit der Alabote haben wir auch dieses Jahr wieder gebucht, um den Fisch unseres Lebens zu fangen. 2019 ist das bisher erfolreichste Jahr in unserem Anglerleben. In drei Tagen haben wir 4 Marline 300 / 350 / 200 / 200 kg ans Boot geholt, markiert, und in guter Verfassung wieder freigelassen. Die Alabote Crew ist sehr kompetent, immer freundlich, erfahren und stehts bereit für den Hochseeangler den besten Spot zu finden. An Bord haben wir haben uns immer sicher und sehr gut betreut gefühlt. Wir freuen uns schon jetzt auf die nächsten - Deep Sea fishing Days - in 2020 auf der Albote mit Cpt. José und Miguel.

I år var vi för 3:e gången på Azorerna för djuphavsfiske med Alabote (båtens namn)
Första gången vi var där var 2014 och då 4 fantastiska fiskedagar, företrädelsevis Marlins. Några år senare var det dags igen för 4 nya härliga dagar med José´ och Alabote, denna gång hade Alabote förlagt sitt fiske till ön Faial i den Azoriska ö-gruppen. Oerhört vacker och genuin ö.
Till detta år 2019 valde vi återigen Azorerna och skeppare José med sin son Miguel att visa vägen till gott fiske.
Vi bokade upp resa och båt med José och just den valda veckan var det Big Game Fishing Tournament som vi erbjöds detla i. Och det gjorde vi. Vi hade 3 helt fantastiska tävlingsdagar där José och Miguel kämpade med vågor och vind och gjorde det möjligt för Ola och mig att kroka och kämpa in 2 Blue Marlin om dagen.
Med totalt 6 Blue Marlins med vikt mellan 200-300 kg kammade vi hem hela tävlingen.
Vill man uppleva riktigt djuphavsfiske är Azorerna och Alabote ett bra val. Synnerligen trevliga människor, en fantastisk båt som går stabilt och tryggt på Atlanten. Förutom deras skicklighet fann vi ännu en gång ett glatt sällskap, varm lunch, dricka och annat gott. Så härifrån blir det full pott med guldglans!
PS Det talas bra engelska på Alabote och på Azorerna över lag DS

An absolutely wonderful full day fishing trip. We got to see both whales and dolphins in addition to our fishing luck. Our 80 year old managed to get a Blue Marlin at 650 pounds and then we got one to Blue Marlin at 450 pounds. We would like to thank Captain José and Miguel Fourtado. Their knowledge and expertise combined with their wonderful service made this day the best fishing trip ever. We can highly recommend their tours! // Janne Waldau Sweden.

The best fishing charter We've had from start to finish. Helpful email exchange to pick good dates. In three days we caught 2 blue marlin, 3 Albacore, 6 Big eye and 1 spearfish. Fished three different areas and had a variety of experiences. High quality, experienced crew. Passionate about fishing but also careful about all the details. Close knit group that worked well together. Made us feel at home. Comfortable, capable boat. Delicious lunch. Ample snack/drinks. Finally, a couple of days after the charter Miguel offered to drive to our vacation house and drop off some video. Highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I are planning on chartering this boat for to try to get a Marlin. I was just wondering if you had the tail and head mounted, and if you did how much did it cost to mount it and ship it home? We live in Plymouth Mass so the shipping cost should be comparable.

Hi Miss Janice,
thank you so much for your message and sorry for replying late but we have been busy with charters. We have done some marlin and tuna tails in our home but we never send it to anybody out of Portugal. We have a friend who brought a fresh tuna tail in his luggage to Denmark and dry it there. It works fine! But for marlin, nowadays, we only pratice catch, tag and release acording to the billfish foundation with exception for fish dead during the fight or potential world records. Unfortunately the billfish population is really in bad numbers so we believe that catch and release method is the best way to protect and save them. Anyway, if you are interested, we have some good dates in August. Please send us an email and take a look on our website!
