The Central Park of Helsinki is a huge 1000-hectare park, running ten kilometers from Töölönlahti Bay to Haltiala on the northern outskirts of the city. Actually, it is a forest for the most part.
The park offers excellent opportunities for outdoor sports and recreation. There is about a hundred kilometer of outdoor trails. It is easy to get lost. It is good to have some kind of navigation device with you.

The area is named Central Park in Finnish but in reality it is a huge forest of tall trees beginning near the Stadion and reaching out to Vantaa. People jogging, walking and biking use the same trails crisscrossing from South to North, separate lanes are reserved for horseback riding. If you are visiting Finland only briefly this is the place to flee to the nature just in the middle of busy city life.

A great park to walk or bike through. It takes a few hours to walk from downtown through the park and back. Wide well maintained paths. One of the best things I saw in Helsinki.

Helsinki central park is a nice place to visit any time of year if you want to jog, walk or bike - or even ride a horse. Park begins in the south at Töölönlahti Bay in the middle of the city and ends in Haltiala and the River Vantaa on the northern border of Helsinki. But it is so narrow you can't get lost. In Keskuspuisto you get a nice look at Finnish nature. I like it because walkways are in good condition, but forest look natural with fallen trees. I recommend climbing the cliffs. Relaxing break in Helsinki.
