We rented bikes in Marina di San Vito and took the Via Verde to Punta Aderci beach (tot ~56km a/r). The last stretch is not paved and the mountain bike would be ideal, however, with a little attention I also found myself well with the walking bike.
Once you reach the top of the promontory, you will be enchanted by nature, the sea, the wind. A show not to be missed.

Riserva Naturale, e già questo basterebbe a descriverla! Crystal clear water and pristine landscape, close to the busiest Punta Penna. Must be visited!

Spectacular beach with dunes, wild vegetation, rough seas, wind, lighthouse, overflows, shells, branches, trunks, sponges, algae, cuttlefish bones and corals.
Too bad the huge amount of plastic released from the sea on the shoreline that no one removed in the day but some passers-by. I hope there will be a periodic check by the forest rangers with land clearing. Too bad also the destruction of the landscape a few steps accumulated over the decades.

Beautiful stretch of coast protected but usufribile freely. Beach of citoli and some coarse sand. Tranquilla.

I recommend it because it is a wonderful panoramic point. I was in the car, I parked nearby and after walking for 600 m I arrived on site...
It's worth seeing

A dirt path (easily accessible from a free car park) allows you to reach the panoramic point in a few minutes from which other paths branch off, which can also be explored by bicycle (mountain bike preferably).

simply spectacular. One of those places that man still knows how to defend and respect. Protected reserve, fortunately, the hand of man has managed to integrate respect for nature and the landscape with enjoyment. You can park nearby without any problems, then it's a 15-minute walk (or with the minibus that goes back and forth, but for a fee). The beach is made of stones with the classic huts improvised with beached timber. It is located to the left of the promontory that protects it and where the trobocco is. There are no bars or sources of drinking water (yes at the car park) but there is a good lifeguard service. It is super romantic especially at sunset, when it is recommended to move to the promontory to enjoy the excellent panoramic point. The overflow gives that touch typical of these coasts. It is also possible to go on a horseback excursion with ups and downs that make everything adventurous. Be careful of the sea, if it is calm it is clear and safe, on the contrary if it is rough avoid swimming. The beach is quite long and never gets crowded but there are also small coves on the sides to be more relaxed. I would avoid the beach further south, it is more difficult to reach, very narrow beach and sea more exposed to currents.

A beautiful reality that was established in February 1998 with the creation of the Punta Aderci Nature Reserve, a naturalistic oasis of tranquility overlooking the Adriatic Sea with pristine beaches characterized by dunes dotted with trabocchi.

The paths that can be explored on foot - or by bicycle - are beautiful and well signposted, the views and panoramas that can be admired from Punta Penna to the stony Libertini beach are exciting and unique, there is ample free parking and a convenient shuttle service to the beach.

There are few negative points, the need to equip yourself with everything to spend a day at the seaside (from the umbrella to the food, without forgetting the water), the not exactly crystal clear water of the sea and some areas where dirt and waste have taken over .

Our tour to discover the Abruzzo coast passes through Punta Aderci, a natural reserve characterized by beaches and dunes, located north of Vasto. Here nature is uncontaminated and the landscape offers wonderful views of the crystalline sea. From the promontory you can enjoy the view of the cliffs and wild beaches that characterize this stretch of coast. Worth the trip!
