Visited to see the Truro Art School Art Exhibition, which had some brilliant pieces. So far so good, the overall visit was ruined by as other people have observed the heavy handed us of decisive and debatable Gender Ideology throughout the building. As you enter the main hall you are greeted by masses of Pride Flags which dont relate to all the other Cornwall items in the room, again as others noted. Then we have 'All Gender' Toilets, which some people feel uncomfortable and unsafe in. Next in an otherwise excellent photography exhibit about being Cornish we have a 7 year old boy asked for his pronouns, he says he doesn't know what that means, hang out here mate you will have it shoved down your throat. Finally I get to the shop looking forward to some nice relevant books about Cornish artists such as Barbara Hepworth, you guessed it, no books but a display of 'Queer Artist' merchandise. Queer being a homophobic Slur that many people hate, but beloved by the Gender Identity Mob. No doubt Inclusivity will be blamed for all this virtue signaling. If Stonewall did museums this would be it ( Stonewall is Gender Lobby Group). On my way out I was handed my yer pass. No Thanks, Sadly I won't be back.

As a whole the museum is lovely. We went for the Ancient Egyptian part for my child’s school history project. Staff were lovely and informative.
My only issue was the random gender/pride flags that were around the top floor. It had no connection to any topic in the museum. Now I’m not against any of that whatsoever, everyone is entitled to be who or what they want to be, I just felt that it was very forced upon. I’m very open to my children but at such a young age I felt it was too much information/ facts for such young children.

A real gem of a place! Very interesting exhibitions in a beautiful building. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Would thoroughly recommend visiting, especially while the Egyptian exhibits are there as they are quite stunning.

We enjoyed our museum visit today and found the location easy to find. There was public car parking just up the road.
Plenty of exhibits through the years to draw the eye. The painting of the seven foot something man was spectacular. The vintage carriage charmed and the bronze age tools intrigued.
The room with several hundred rocks was engaging and I should imagine that if you really like rocks you'd be in your element.
Upstairs we delved into ancient Egypt and admired a plethora of Cornish art.
Worth a visit.

We visited here (Tuesday 17) and were greeted by a male volunteer who was determined to tell us everything he wanted to tell us not what we wanted to know.
Appreciated the displays- particularly the art gallery (yes we voted for our top three)- and the natural history section which was probably designed for schoolchildren but was excellent.
The Lego/ flotsam and jetsam display was striking too.
Three points:
1 The main flight of stairs - beautiful to look at does not have the edges marked and so is challenging to visitors with low vision.
2 Given the contribution of nonconformity to the area this aspect seemed a striking omission.
3 We were puzzled at the prominence given to LGBTQ+ flags- which seemed isolated and unconnected to any theme of social justice which could have been a major topic.
4 The card displays on women of Cornwall was very disappointing- almost token.

We had looked forward to visiting the museum today, but unfortunately after driving around for some time to different car parks, we left without visiting.
It is not an easy place to get to as a visitor.

Thank you for your feedback, we're sorry that you didn't get to visit the museum. Unfortunately, since we're in the city centre, there is no parking around the museum. Instead, we recommend people park in a nearby car park, or at the Park and Ride which will deliver you directly to our front door. Hopefully we will be able to welcome you another time.

A lot of museums are a bit stuffy and not particularly exciting,..the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro isn't one of them.
Of course there's still quite a lot of stuff behind glass but that's OK as there's still plenty of interactive elements.
We particularly enjoyed the LEGO section and there's plenty for young hands to get stuck into there, whilst taking home the environmental impact of plastic waste and pollution.
I'd happily return and recommend this museum.

Truro is always worth a visit if you're in Cornwall as is the Royal Cornwall Museum, situated right in the heart of this fascinating city.
The museum gathers together exhibits from across the world but mostly relevant to Cornwall and Cornish life. When we visited, the main exhibition was all about the plastic left on our beaches, in particular the colossal amount of lego that started washing up on Cornish beaches after a container ship sank. This was a fascinating exhibition, sadly demonstrating the plight of our oceans but also detailing the conservation efforts that are in action to try and protect our beaches and waterways.
Elsewhere in the museum you can see nature exhibits, and even an egyptian mummy as well as other artefacts from Egypt. There are lots of kid-friendly activities and exhibits as well as an activity trail, plus opportunities to dress up and play in the nature area.
The museum is right opposite the park and ride stop (and I thoroughly recommend using the park and ride service whenever you visit Truro as it's cheap and convenient with loads of parking - and most importantly loos if your young ones are caught short!)

Visited to see the Lego exhibition with a Lego fanatic. How disappointing the exhibition was and totally uninspiring.
The activities for children ,obviously , were arranged by staff who don't play with children. Children were invited to make mosaics with coloured plastic discs and were shown examples of disc mosaics. How can a child copy one of the designs if there aren't enough discs to complete even half the design before she ran out of one colour.
The other activity was to see if plastic / stone floats. Children learn this at toddler age in the bath!
We were pleased to find a large dressing up box but not so much fun without a mirror.
I now have an annual ticket so hope future school holiday activities are better. The museum isn't really child friendly.
The only plus point is that under 18s are free.

Thank you for the review. We currently have a rotating programme of children's activities - including this week's bottle top mosaics and 'will it float?' - to engage with young people during the school holidays. In line with our exhibition, Adrift, they seek to help children learn about plastic pollution get creative. We will pass your feedback onto our learning and engagement team.

Absolutely terrible in every way. I'm not prepared to elaborate further. Suffice it to say, that the trip was regretted and my day was ruined.
