It’s amazing to learn that so many fabrics are made for the film, theatre and Tv right here. It’s great to see and hear the stories. The weaving ‘shed’ was actually built around a fairy tree!

A great tour guide Nigel , a knowledgeable guide with a friendly disposition when the tour ends you really have a good grasp of how linen is produced.

We made an appointment for a tour. We rode the bus from Belfast to Banbridge and walked to the factory. This is the only Irish Linen factory left in Ireland! The tour was just plain outstanding conducted by their head designer. No one knows more about the process so her insights were the best. The folks in the factory were wonderful as well. My wife learned to "cut" a finished piece of linen (no easy task) from Elizabeth who has been doing this for some 50 years without too much snickering. We then, of course, bought a suitcase full of Irish Linen. We will return next year and do it again.

Miscommunication lead to us being unable to tour the factory. Very disappointing as this was the main reason for our visit to Banbridge. We visited the shop and bought some lovely blankets but would have loved to see the production floor. Not very accommodating, very disappointing.

I'm interested in weaving and saw the factory on one of Michael Portillo's "Great Railway Journeys". Judith showed me round and shared her wealth of knowledge of linen, weaving and the history of the company. Other members of the workforce took the time to show me a rapier loom in operation - and how to cut linen square. Then there's an attractive shop stocked with a tempting range of linen in various forms. Altogether a great way to spend an afternoon.

Excellent linen manufacturing historical site. Ability to see the looms and fine weaving in practice and learn about the proud history behind fine Irish linen products. Fantastic on site gift store.

Easily accessible from Belfast or on the way North from Dublin. You will cross the worlds first flyover I kid you not. This is a true factory shop stocking end of lines, overstock, one offs, samples etc etc. If it’s made of linen they will have it. Beautiful throws, shawls, lots of choice in Traditional and contemporary designs. Nigel knows his stuff.

I was interested in purchasing the two cord pattern linen pillow cases and could not find a photo of them on the website so I emailed asking where to see one. It seems that there was no such photo on the website so I was sent a photo of the two cord pattern on a tablecloth. How am I expected to buy a pillowcase based on a tablecloth photo?

We visited this factory on a recent trip overseas to Northern Ireland. Nigel gave us a tour of the factory and an informarative talk on the history of Damask linen in Banbridge. This is the highest quality linen in the world and incredibly beautiful. The machines that weave this linen and the entire process is fascinating. My great grandfather was once a weaver here and I loved learning all about this industry. A bonus was the gift store, and the discounted " slightly imperfect" items, which were incredible bargains! Don't miss this hidden gem in Banbridge, a quaint village. Tours are offered bi-weekly, but if you're with a large group you can schedule your own tour. On line sales are available as well.

It is a painful drive out to Banbridge from Belfast but this is the place to go if you are after quality linen products.
It is a working linen factory and, if you time it right, you can go on a conducted tour.
There is a good showroom of quality (and suitably priced) linen products plus an interesting seconds bucket for those on more of a budget.
Parking is off-street directly outside the building.
Plan a visit with some other activity, or on your way through, to make the most of your time and Ferguson's location.

Hello, would you mind advising how long the factory tour is in length? The website doesn't mention the duration.Thank you!

Hi. Our tour was just about at closing time and the production floor was empty. As we had contacted them months before about visiting, and my wife is a weaver, Judith spent about an hour with us, talking fibers and equipment and techniques. She was very generous with her time. So, plan for about an hour, plus a bit for shopping.
