HI Dina, Great questions... I would suggest that you get in touch with the lodge sales office to connect you with the tours that you want to do during your stay. Off the bat though- most of the tours are available except the River of Caves 7 Mile Tube Float which is not available due to dry river beds in good portions of the Caves Branch river. All other activities however will be good. Keep in mind that this tour is the only one affected by the dry river and not any of the others. The alternative cave tubing tour- River Cave Expedition IS available pretty much year round. Give them a call or shoot the office an email to get you booked up. Tours are finalized and confirmed each night at dinner time for the following day. See you soon!

Hi ATL_Mary, Thanks for your questions! You are looking at two of the most fascinating and amazing adventures in Western Belize and honestly, that is a hard choice. Having done both tours, I can say that overall- they are NOT alike regardless of how "similar" you may consider them to be. Although both are wet caves and require a good amount of water- both swimming/ wading through, they are totally and completely different from one another. ATM can easily be defined as an underground museum of ancient sacred Maya ceremonial rituals with a huge mix of Adventure to get through. The most spectacular finish is seeing the crystal maiden at the end of the cave- SIMPLY AMAZAING! Waterfall Cave however is quite a different experience and cannot be compared with any other adventure in the entire country. With 7 waterfalls underground, the challenge is to get up and over 6 of these thundering falls and return the same way you entered. There is very little viewing of anything Mayan-although the cave is was ceremonial one, however the experience is much more of an adrenaline pumping adventure over the admiration of ancient ceremonial centers and human remains within the ATM cave. The choice may be a difficult one but it also depends on what your focus is on with your family. If you are up for doing something UNBELIEVABLE- Waterfall Cave is your choice but if you are looking for more cultural, historical value, then ATM would be it. Either one is available from Caves Branch Lodge!

HI . . This is Ian writing. In April, yes the Caves Branch river at the location of the lodge, is usually dry. however the waterfall cave adventure is located far up the valley where the river is still running as is the water at the river cave expedition, The second river cave adventure, referred to as "river of caves" tube floating, is dry in April. So in ending, yes, the waterfall cave adventure and the river cave expedition are available in April. I look forward to meeting you in person.

There are bats in the caves because that's where bats live. But they have no interest in humans. Most of them were just hanging out, literally. The few that were flying around near the opening of one of the caves, were flying close to the top of the cave, no where near us humans. I would not recommend a rabies vaccine.
