Nice loop to walk the dog but it can get hot in the late afternoon. Some areas with no shade and limited water and bathroom access.

We broke our trip up for our toddler, and this detour was well worth the effort. What a great park for all ages!! Our 2, almost 3, year old loved all the different activities and was very clean and nice.

I took my kids to Shillito park to check out the newly completed playground, and my family loves it. It features a separate play sets for the much younger kids and the older kids with varying activities like slides, climbing ropes, bridges, and other fun stuff. There are different swing sets, an all-accessible merry go round, spinners and a water play station which is now my 2-year old’s favorite thing there. There are also picnic tables around and a little playhouse. It is wonderful that some of the original style design has been retained and the big trees surrounding the area has been preserved The equipment they have now is a lot safer than the old wooden one that was replaced and I can now easily see and keep an eye on my kids. Volunteers has contributed to building this playground and it is just awesome.

There are baseball fields located in 2 sections of the park as well as a couple of practice areas. There are also several tennis courts, frisbee golf course, and a football field.
The lap pool is found near the center of the park and there is a walking trail around the outside edges of the park. This trail is also bike friendly and well maintained.
The children's playground that was located in the park has been removed. The latest news from the city is that grant money has been received and the playground will be rebuilt in the fall of 2019.
The park has several shelters that can be reserved for a nominal fee by contacting the city parks and rec. If you are in a shelter that is reserved by someone else you may be asked to leave so look for a reserved sign.

This park has everything you could want or desire. From a pool to tennis and volleyball courts and basketball courts to a great large wooden outdoor playground. We love leaving nearby!

There are nice, long biking/walking trails, ball fields, and plenty of room for picnics without feeling like you are in the middle of a crowd. Very nice!

É um parque muito legal e agradável para um piquenique. Possui mesas, quadras e uma piscina, além, é claro, de grandes áreas gramadas.

This park was a great location for our family reunion. In addition to a covered pavilion space with grills, a large play area was available nearby for the children to play in. A nice pool area that included a large pool for the older children and adults, and a kiddie pool for the younger ones was available. Great place for family gatherings.

I walked our daughter's dog last week in the afternoon;pleasant enough with lots of room for the dog to run like the wind with large open spaces; I took him back a couple nights later because I was late getting home and our daughter was working....there were some funny things going on in that park. The dog went ballistic at a guy I think might have been pimping the girl with him. A real creepy event though when dog and I crossed a bridge over a creek-a voice in the dark repeatedly beckoned to us to "come over" - when the dog goes in the opposite direction, I follow. Visit the park in the daytime. If you want to visit after dark, you'd better be playing tennis or basketball!

Shillito is a Sports Park first and foremost. You won't find peace and quiet here. Baseball, Football, Lacrosse, Tennis, Ultimate, Disc Golf, Swimming, Running, Biking, and more. Traffic is insane, not only from the athletes and families, but also because Shillito is a 24 hour cut through to neighborhoods. Keep your kids far from the roads as people race through the park at triple the speed limit. Better yet, visit one of Lexington's other less-crowded parks unless you need to be at Shillito.
Shillito's 2 mile paved trail is a highlight. It loops the park and intersects with bits of Lexington's broken trail system. Hike or bike to Wellington park for a 6+ mile circuit.
Crime is another issue as signs testify to lock your car and hide valuables from view. We had family in town and their car window was smashed in broad daylight while visiting the playground. Brazen criminals love Shillito's three entrances for a quick getaway. Fortunately, all they got from us was a kid's bible study book!
