My friends and I stopped by the spa for the day on our way by. I'm a physical Therapist and honestly don't expect a lot but good relaxation at a spa like this. They lean on the view a lot and for good reason. Like many reviews say about the resort on various platforms, The resort is starting to show its age and the spa is certainly no exception, for a premium price I expect a lot better. The spa was definitely not clean and there is a lack of help around. There was no real greeting experience that wowed me like I often get at places and I was left not really sure where things were and where to go. But we all figured it out. The robes were plush and comfortable. You can tell the womens locker room doesn't get cleaned often or well. I had a nail service first and had a great time with Ginger! She did a fabulous job and is such a warm and kind person. The nail room itself needs a lot of love. The lighting is poor and the chairs are pretty old. The floor was very worn as well. After that I had a a long massage with April. It's always a special experience when you find someone who is truly gifted. I've met only a few people in life who I feel are truly gifted and April is one of them. We talked a bit and she noticed some postural issues I had without me saying anything. That got me interested. She went over what she wanted to do and her treatment plan was spot on. She is incredibly intelligent and knows her craft well. When i say gifted, it's how she made me feel. She is possibly the kindest person and not sicky sweet like some people are but was genuine. She addressed my postural issues effectively with many techniques I use on my clients and she actually taught me a couple moves too! She took the time to help me understand what she saw and why she was approaching me the way she did. To top it off, it was the most out of body relaxing massage I've ever had in addition to being highly effective! She even helped me make a plan to continue to address my issues. I found out she is a highly skilled health coach too, I think that's why talking with her felt so helpful. My friends and I chatted of course. We shared our experiences. One of my friends had April as well and we had similar experiences with her and would both love to return to see her. One of my friends said she had a facial with Chelsea that was pretty amazing and the best she has ever had. Another friend had Jason for a massage and said he was fine, really kind and caring but an average massage. There was also a scrub with a Kristin or Christine I think which was really good. The massage rooms we all were good. The rooms were showing a lot of wear. One had a squeeky table, one had a bad floor, you could hear excessive noise in a couple rooms. Like I said, the facilities rely on the view and location and lack proper upkeep and cleaning. The people were all friendly though and I found a really amazing massage therapist.

I am staying at the Cliff house for 4 days. I was really looking forward to my massage at the spa. While the relaxation room is lovely, the massage itself was the worst I have ever received. I had the mother to be massage, where half the massage was focused on my arms and chest. Barely any feet, legs, hips, or any areas you would actually want relief. There was not even simple things you would expect..explanation of what lotion or product they are using, hot towel wrapped around your feet, not even a decent eye mask. Was appalled at how low quality this expensive massage was. The massage therapist seemed extremely unskilled. Don’t waste your time or money

Had the most amazing massage this past weekend at the cliff house spa. Jason was my masseuse. It is absolutely the best massage I have ever had! It was perfection. The ambiance and scenery are unmatched as well. I will most definitely be retuning. The highest possible recommendation for Jason and the spa!

One of the anticipated highlights of our stay was for my wife and I to enjoy time in the infrared sauna. I was advised when I called to reserve time was that the infrared sauna was for women only! Very disappointed and can't understand in this day and age how a place could discriminate against men like this!

First the good. My massage was great, very relaxing. The facilities could be fantastic but they had no attention to the men’s area. Infused water was empty, paper cups left in the steam room and sauna, sauna was not even on. Robes, towels and slides left all over the place. It was an uncomfortable mess. The excuse was they had a party just check out and no attendant. Management should roll up there sleaves and get it done, no excuses for the condition of the facility and no attempt to make anything better except “sorry”.

What a way to celebrate my 45th birthday! My mom, sister and I spent a day at the Spa at Cliff House and the entire staff made it so special for all of us! It all started when we pulled up to valet the car, the landscaping was so pretty with all of the summer flowers in bloom. From the moment you step into the lobby, you have a perfect view of the ocean. I had booked an 80 minute massage with Jason. This was my second massage with him and he is amazing! Great soft hands and such attention to detail. Highly recommend him. Adding the heated stones is a must and finishing off my spa day in the sauna felt so good! The retreat area is a great place to unwind and take in the view of the ocean prior and post massage. Tricia in the front desk checked us all set in and greeted us with a nice glass of Prosecco! And we rebooked for Christmas! Thanks again Cliff House for making me feel so special on my birthday!

i have been getting massages for at least 30 years but have never had a massage of the quality I received from Jason at Cliff House. I went to Cliff House last year and Jason gave me my first “REAL” massage that was absolutely amazing. I came back to Cliff walk a few days ago, but Jason was fully booked. Unbelievably the spa called me to tell me that Jason had offered to stay past his shift just to give me a massage. Needless to say it was fantastic! I wholeheartedly recommend Jason for your next massage. (just make sure to book him far in advance of your stay)

I think the facial and massage I received was rushed and not very thorough. I waited over five minutes with my face buried in a pillow while she went to mix the mud for my massage. The hair and scalp massage felt good but my hair did not feel and look any different. Not worth $300! Then when you go to check out, they ask you in front of other guests if you are comfortable with tipping 20%. I felt like I was being pressured to leave 20% so I did but the service I received was not worth a $60 tip. Why not allow the patron to select the percentage they want to give on the pin pad instead of announcing it to everyone? I have had better facials and massages at home for half the price. I guess you are paying extra for the view.

We had a wonderful weekend in Maine followed by an afternoon at the Cliff House Spa. Jason was a fabulous massage therapist, very skilled, kind attentive and professional!
He made the entire experience incredibly relaxing and comfortable! I will be requesting him in the future.

Resort is beautiful but way short of expectations for ultra premium pricing.

Pros:
I had a fantastic spa treatment, facial with Janine. The spa and amenities are beautifully appointed. She was professional, competent and a pleasant conversationalist.

The grounds are undeniably breathtaking. While there’s no sandy beach, the beautifully landscaped grounds, multiple pools, hot tubs and views are spectacular in every direction.

Cons:
I booked a last-minute stay in August and reserved an “Oceanview two king room”, advertised as 450 sq st. I don’t travel with a tape measure but I can tell you with 100% certainty that the room that I was staying in, #478 (Ledges building) was not close to 450 ft.² and it was quite honestly “meh”. It was nice enough but for $800 a night it should have been way more upgraded with no peeling paint or worn ottomans. View was nice but nothing wow.

Onto the pool and hot tub which is honestly where the biggest disappointment came from. One of the reasons I chose this resort was it’s wide selection of both family and adult pools (I was traveling solo). When I arrived on Saturday the resort pool and hot tub which are very clearly marked for being ages 13+ was packed with the children of hotel running all over the pool deck yelling and screaming and jumping in and out of the hot tub‘s and pool. The kids pool area appeared to be empty most of my stay.

It’s unfortunate that the parents did not follow instructions but ultimately it’s up to the hotel management to enforce and they were clearly not interested. There was one girl taking drink orders at the poolside on Saturday and she clearly was not going to engage in conflict with the guests.

Of greater concern was the tremendous number of glass beer bottles, martini glasses and draft glasses sitting on the side of the hot tub. Again it was clearly posted that there was no glass allowed but nobody seemed interested in following this rule and as a guest I’m not interested in stepping on somebody’s broken glass. It’s a major safety issue and one that I was very disappointed to see happening at an ultra high-end resort.
