A highlight of our trip
oct. de 2021
We saw Mystic Pizza which was really well done. The playhouse itself is now in a tent because of COVID. I think that considering the restrictions, they have done very well. Yes, it was cold but we were warned and dressed appropriately. The seats are situated in pods of two and arranged so that the stage is visible. The parking is extremely well organized but a problem if you want to leave early. I phoned to make reservations and the person answering was extremely helpful. The production is very professional and I wouldn't hesitate to go there again. In fact, I might make a detour to Ogunquit just to go to a show!

Under the tent
sept. de 2021 • Pareja
This year the playhouse was under a huge tent. Seats were spaced apart for Covid19. We worried we would not be able to see well since seats were all on a level ground but the spacing made it possible to see very well. Play was excellent as usual. Seats were not horribly comfortable but were not horribly uncomfortable. I think we liked it better than the indoor venue!

Young Frankenstein, "outdoors" for a fun experience....
oct. de 2021
Wow, we saw "Young Frankenstein" at the "outdoor" tent at the Ogunquit Playhouse and were impressed with the venue and production. We've never sat inside, so can't compare, but it felt that they created a first rate theater experience under the tent. Lighting, sound and stage were excellent. We saw a matinee on a chilly afternoon, so I can see that it could get pretty cold for the evening performances. They leave the large doors open so there is plenty of airflow and masks are required. This was our first theater experience since the pandemic began, and we felt very comfortable.

The production itself was a hoot, and even better than the movie. It was a musical, not my favorite genre, but this really worked, Talented performers, made for a fun and memorable evening.

Do not hesitate!!

Dress very warmly if the play is in the tent
oct. de 2021 • Solitario
Check to see if your play will be held outside, well, in a tent and dress accordingly. Fortunately, the Playhouse sent an email to warn me I should dress warmly and bring a blanket. It was obvious some people did not get that message. It was easy to book online. However, upon scanning my ticket, it had been canceled. The staff were good enough to go to the box office and figure out I had been upgraded. Now, if they could send me an email about the seating and call me while I was waiting to enter, not sure why they couldn’t have emailed me the new ticket. Parking is done by if you are exiting to the north or south and you are parked bumper to bumper, door to door. A bit frustrating for those who exit first and have to wait for those in front of them to return to their car. Maybe that explained the free fir all upon exiting. It was indeed cold in the tent and the door flaps were not closed during the performance, allowing a breeze from the north to blow right through. Chairs were set in pairs with space to the next pair. They were not comfortable. But they were set to give everyone a good view of the stage. As for the play, the actors, singing and dancing were excellent.

Our Yearly Treat!
oct. de 2021
Love, love, love this place! Have been to a number of shows over the years and all were wonderful. Saw Mystic Pizza in the pavilion and it was wonderful. We came prepared! They do tell you to bring cushions for the seats, they do tell you to be prepared for colder weather, they do tell you everything ahead of time. The cushions helped. The seats are far apart, so you sit in your own little space. You wear your mask when in motion, so you may take it off at your seat and enjoy the show. The people working there are so very nice and helpful. The parking is close, and might take a moment to get out, but that's fine. It really is a wonderful place to see a fantastic show and enjoy yourself during this crazy time. The pavilion is quite something. Everything is as it would be if it were inside. Great performance!

Can’t wait for the pandemic to be over
sept. de 2021 • Pareja
I appreciate all the work they put into the tent, but be warned…it can be cold and the chairs are uncomfortable. They do send you an email telling you this, but I could tell you a seat pad doesn’t do the trick. The chairs are uncomfortable. They have nice trailer bathrooms, but no signage as to entrance and exit and so some folks were exiting the entrance, defeating the social distance aspect. The major issue is parking. I don’t recall that they tell you they will park you in, but that is what they do. So, if like us, you decide sitting through the second act might not be worth it…you have no choice! Except we did, because we saw a hint on TripAdvisor to have dinner at Jonathan’s and leave your car there and walk. Thanks TA! I thought that Mystic Pizza needed more editing and polishing and frankly, better actors.

Well Done!
sept. de 2021
Growing up in Ogunquit, the Playhouse has always been on the summer to do list, especially as I've gotten older. I missed going last year because of the pandemic, but made it back this year and enjoyed the fabulous Pavilion they've built. It was a wonderful experience and the Mystic Pizza show was amazing! From the set design which included the band and all the 80's music I loved to the perfectly cast characters. If you can make it before it closes on October 2, go! It's worth it.

Did Not Use Out Tickets
sept. de 2021 • Pareja
This is not a review of the actual show, Mystic Pizza. We had purchased four economy tickets for the evening performance on Thursday, September 2nd. We ended up not using the tickets. We stopped by that afternoon just to see where the handicapped parking was and saw that the designated handicapped parking area was in a muddy field. It had rained heavily the night before. Figured we would also take a peak into the Leary “Pavilion” which is a large tent. My fault for not reading the online description……the “natural” floor is actually dirt and as described the chairs were armless with little cushioning. We concluded the economy seats we purchased would have been a so-so experience once we made it through the very muddy handicapped lot. Waste of $188. Suggest you read all the previous reviews and the fine print online so you know exactly what you are purchasing. We appreciate the Playhouse’s effort to provide performances during Covid but it just did not work out for us. Sorry, just being honest.

Fun Local Theatre
ago. de 2021
We recently attended a performance of Margaritaville at the Ogunquit Playhouse during a visit to Maine. No Becket or Pinter here - this is strickly light, summertime fair. Basically in a tent with few amentities. But a great place to spend a summer afternoon.

They did a great job of handlng the crowd during COVID.

Congrats and recommended.
