I came here to see my husbands pictures, Ceremonial clothes etc, as all of my photographs, his drum, branding iron etc etc were stolen from me.... There are many pictures taken of him and I after we married in 1972, by the visitors etc, that came to our cabin, and while we were out. I just wish some would post these so I may see them again. Louie Nine Pipe was my beloved Husband. I was known as Vivien...from the UK...! I visited his grave while there....Arlee Cemetery......

Interesting exhibit area. -would definitely recommend the recorded audio tour as you wander through the different areas. Staff is friendly and the gift store stocks many quality items.

The audio tour is totally worth the time to just slow down and listen to the stories. I truly makes the past come to life.

We liked this museum of the Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana. It was especially about the Indian Americans.

They covered all about it and I thanked them for that.

This is what they cover: How they clothe, how kids dress, weapons, paintings, artifacts, how women dress, Trade beats, winter, playing music, Custer last stand, buffalos, the Church, Their kitchen, saddles, houses and teepees, dances and weapons.

At the end they put a beautiful place how the American Indians. I liked that a lot.

There was another part as well: About all the animals in this region.

I learned a lot here. Wow!

A must see!

Brought my dad back to Montana for his 90th birthday, and we spent the night at the Ninepipes Lodge next door. After breakfast we stopped in and met a young couple from Austin Tx. and I paid forward their way in, so they bought the audio tour and we shared it and had a great time and after the tour we came out and met the curator who autographed his book. Fantastic experience and made new friends!

If you are in the area it's a MUST VISIT! And the audio tour is a must, narrated by the person with a vision for this museum since he was a young boy - so much personal knowledge of the history of the Ninepipe people and other area tribes.

We feel Lucky that we stopped and took a look at this museum. We almost didn’t pay to go in the museum, but the two women in front of us had just done it and highly recommended it.

I am from Utah and have seen many different Native American museum exhibits, thus I was skeptical if I would appreciate this or not. In the end my wife and I both feel this was a spectacular museum with an excellent collection of the history of early Montana. The Native American Head dresses were beyond amazing. This collection was very thorough and detailed with well preserved collections. The organization and flow of the displays were a little disorganized and loaded with detail, but the overall experience was excellent. This museum was A pleasant surprise that surpassed my expectations. I’m glad I stopped. I felt like I walked away with a greater appreciation for the Native Americans who lived in this area

We too were in the area and had not planned to stop. Glad we did. The tour through the museum is self-paced and there is an audio tour available. Lots of pictures, Native American clothing, and everyday items for review. You can easily spend 1 - 1.5 hours checking it all out.

The audio tour is really a great addition to the museum. Our founder Bud Cheff Jr. narrates over 40 back stories of items found throughout the museum and it adds a lot to the experience. Thank you for stopping and taking the time to post a review. Happy travels.
