We stopped in for lunch on the way to Boonah. It was a nice spot with ample parking for 2 vans. Not much to see here and not many photography opportunities as the areas with dead trees and good views were marked with yellow lines and you couldn't leave the car. I really wish there was a proper camping area at this dam as it would make it more accessible and appreciated. Managed a few good long exposures.

Went for a drive to Beaudesert this afternoon and ended up at Wyaralong Dam which is on the way to Boonah. What a beautiful spot. You can picnic by the lake, there is a bike trail, a walking track and a horse riding trail as well as activities you can do on the water. Fishing, paddle boarding, canoeing/ kayaking etc. Beautiful autumn weather for a drive.

This is not a long drive south of Brisbane.
Approaching Beaudesert from Brisbane and turn right. The entrance to the recreation area is about 18km on the right and is well signpostes.
There is plenty of parking with great picnic spots overlooking the dam.
A great day out!

NIce dam to visit, however the road signage is poor to find it. Good facilities, with cooking stations and covered seats. A place to bring any water non motor powered boats and kayaks. Fishing is good from either the banks or Kayaks. Also some interesting sculptures to see there.
Whilst it is good that there is a place to kayak in peace, I just wonder if two days a month small dinghies could be permitted ?
A huge number of walking and mountain bike tracks with a small camp, for those looking for an outdoor activity.
Good loop drive from Brisbane, including either Beaudesert or Boonah. Both with a variety of cafes and eating places.

We took our visiting American friends to Wyaralong Dam to see some local sights around the Scenic Rim area. It was during the week so fairly quiet. They were impressed with the view from the lookout. We had afternoon tea at a covered table and seating area overlooking the dam. A very enjoyable visit.

Nice quiet dam with a small lake. There is also a nearby small park with some interesting sculpture. However, it is more of a small diversion along the way to scenic rim rather than an attraction on its own.

Nice and Quiet spot to drop a line. No noisy powerboats or jetski's. I'd give it 5 stars but there's only 1 remote bush campsite despite all that gorgeous shorefront and parkland they have put in sitting there. If there was more accessible camping it would be spectacular.

Great for Fishing from the shore or Kayak/Canoeing.

Depends why you came; not special and not really a destination priority but I had plenty of time while my wife was occupied on horse needs. Average facilities although ok for picnics and relaxing

Went out to the dam for a look, decided to take the canoe with us and see what we could do. Lovely place...no power crafts allowed so us paddlers can enjoy the peace and quiet. Lovely reaches to get into and back out. Art work near carparks is quite unique. All in all, a great place to enjoy.

I was really looking forward to going out here to visit but what a disappointment. First of all it is hard to find the entrance in. Even Google maps sent me into some person's private property. There is only one signpost leading into the dam. There are no prior signs to say that it is 1 klm away etc.

There doesn't seem to be any promotion for this lovely spot. I am only talking about the water. It is advertised as having camping which I didn't see any of, whilst driving around. Now we are talking school holidays and I expected to see thousands of people out there, instead just a couple of cars.

I also visited a large car park which I assumed would take me on a walk up to the spillway wall. No such thing. So the car park is only there to watch grass grow. There were plenty of locked gates all over the dam. WHY?????

I was able to visit a couple of the BBQ areas and seating shelters with toilets. These amenities seemed to be the best part of the dam. Access to the lower water areas seem to be very limited. I did see a boat ramp and a huge set of steps down to the lower area. Whilst driving in there were no pull over or parking spots to view the water. I also like taking photos and it would have been nice to have taken some photos with the trees in the water etc. But because there are no parking spots, that is almost impossible.

I didn't see any little kiosk areas where you could get a cold drink or cup of coffee. They may have been there somewhere but I didn't find them.

This place should be high on the list of tourist destinations but the owners or organizers have badly missed this opportunity. There should also be parking areas closer to the actual waters edge.

I probably wont be going back unless big improvements are made to the access areas.
