We simply chose our guide by the reviews we had read - and it didn’t disappoint! Kris was our guide and was extremely knowledgeable, funny and patient! We went in October and hadn’t hoped to see much, but within the first ten minutes we saw a family of white bellied dolphins! It was remarkable! Kris doesn’t go into their space, however there are many times the animals will interact with the wakes or come closer. This didn’t happen for us, but it was still amazing! We didn’t see large whales on our trip, but plenty of birds, caves and unique landscapes - Kris was engaging the entire time!
We simply had the best adventure and were extremely grateful for the experience!

Fantastic! Went out early/mid october and saw a super pod of Dolphins and Pilot Whales. Seeing the landscape from the water was also breath taking!

Kris took us on an amazing ride! It didn't feel rushed or pushed. We were lucky enough to see a minky whale and a group of dolphins - even after Thanksgiving. Even if we didn't see any whales, the views and the experience to feel the salty air on your skin is worth it!

We had a great trip - 3h out on the water, saw a leatherback sea turtle, puffins, a minke whale and hundreds of tuna in a feeding frenzy! Chris is very knowledgeable and friendly. Also provided us with gear so we wouldn’t get cold! Would absolutely go out with them again!

Loved the focus on ensuring customer experience from booking to farewells.
Flexibility to shift location to be closer to recent sitings and watching the ocean to move quickly as needed! Very satisfied and will refer others and be back

We went on a 3 hr whale watching tour during our honeymoon. Unfortunately we didnt see any whales, but we did see some eagles and a puffin here and there. I do not like boats at all but my husband convinced me to do this tour. As ones in a lifetime. And even though we didnt see whales; it was an ones in a life time tour. We both enjoyed it massively; the sea caves, the salty water, the waves! I overcame a fear of boats as Chris had so much knowledge and made sure everyone was comfortable. So if you are worried if you might not see whales and its time wasting; it certainly isnt!

We booked a whale watching trip with Sea Of Whales on the recommendation of our son Silas, who was spending some time in Newfoundland. It is the year of our 25th wedding anniversary, and Chris from Sea Of Whales made it a very memorable and pleasant trip for us. It was late in the season so we didn’t see any whales, but we saw some sunfish and talked to a few fishermen who were on the last day of cod fishing season. we also saw some bluefin tuna that were chasing squid, which was really amazing at the end of our tour we saw a bunch of jellyfish and one big Atlantic Lion’s Mane jellyfish.
Thank you, Chris

Although we didn’t see the orcas we set for for Kris made the trip 100% worth it. You can tell he’s in it for the love of it. Our kids had a great experience too!

From start to finish this was a fantastic experience!! The owner, Chris, is the best! He was so welcoming, professional, knowledgeable and fun. Even though it was a bit foggy and rainy we got to see bald eagles dolphins and pilot whales. I would do this again for sure, highly recommend!!

Although the whales were playing ‘hard to find’, we chatted with fisherman out on the water, saw a sun fish, arctic red, jellyfish and a tuna playing in the water followed up by a great narrative around the bays as we headed back. It was a great morning!!

I am planning to have a wale watch in Trinity in August. The zodiac sets off at 9am, 1pm and 5pm. Which time is the best for whale and view watch?
Thanks,
Terence

There’s really no better time of day for seeing whales. They are equally active at all times of the day. The morning and evening trips sometimes offer calmer sea conditions. See you soon!

Do you go out into ocean or stay in more protected bay?

The whales are feeding on fish that lay their eggs on the beaches so we are never very far from shore.

Does the tour go out if winds are 15-20mph?

We are in a unique position here where we can move our boat around the peninsula to wherever calmer water is. We do cancel the trip when winds are too high to safely operate. Yes, we would still be operating in winds of 20mph.

We're planning on booking a tour for next week. Is there a "best" time of day to see the whales? 9am, 1pm or 5pm tours?
