We were both absolutely amazed with this fantastic museum.
So much to see, loved the dedicated rooms, such as hospital/bedroom/kitchen etc.
lots of printed information.

It is a MUST SEE recommendation !

Pretty good museum with lots of stuff from the 50’s and before and therefore well worth a nostalgic visit. Of particular interest is the old cashier desk and overhead trolly from the old Stan Pollard store. Worth the visit just for that.

I had no idea how large this museum was from the outside but spent a very happy hour wandering through this amazing collection of exhibits that just kept unfolding and unfolding. The best part was speaking with some of the volunteers, one of whom had actually manned one of the fire trucks they had on display in the museum. I also loved the complete kitchen from earlier days they had assembled and its interesting of household gadgets from yesteryear. I left knowing there are still things there that I'd like to spend more time checking out. Highly recommended!

This would be the best museum we have seen.
It had a bit of everything. They have it set out so well. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit

I could have stayed here for hours. The staff were friendly and informative. Many, many items from my childhood and items my parents told me about. My father's tools of trade were there which surprised me to see again.

Wonderful collection of memorabilia from many eras. Medics will be fascinated by the iron lung and ancient autoclave along with old medical instruments and nurses uniforms. Sewers will enjoy the many hand made wedding and christening dresses; kids will be fascinated by the old gambling machines which Geoff the guide has got going again. There is an old fire engine and lots of other displays eg WWI and II, old cameras, a player piano, old movie-making equipment, lathes and other machinery etc etc etc
The volunteer guides were full of fascinating stories. We were lucky to have both Paul and Geoff to guide us through the exhibition and the ladies at reception were also very knowledgeable and helpful.

Being a permanent traveller I have visited many, many museums and this would have to be one of the best.
There is something for everyone and the friendly volunteers are very knowledgeable and keen to answer your questions.
One of the things I hadn't seen before in a medical display anywhere, is an iron lung.
Most of the display rooms are "walk-in" so you can get a close up look at the furnishings and items.
Being a Queenslander I was really interested in the school displays. I used these things!!
As expected there is a lot of the history of Charters Towers gold mining and the migrants who worked then.
I would thoroughly recommend a visit to Zara Clark Museum - and leave yourself a lot of time to explore.
