Working in a care home has made seeing friends/loved ones hard as you’re always scared of putting the people you care for at risk. The white horse made it possible to enjoy catching up and having a drink with my parents possible. Unfortunately covid had made me very anxious to interact with others, which I’m sure has had the same effect on many others too but having a drink at this pub gave me a lovely sense of normality (pre covid times) whilst also follows strict rules regarding covid and government guidelines. Can’t fault the owners and staff- very nice and friendly people ensuring everyone is happy and safe during their visit. Look forward to having a drink here again and highly recommend to anyone.

I've been here recently after quite some time and I have to say that it has improved massively.
The new manager is a nice man and the young bar man that was working that particular evening is very welcoming, and seems very down to earth. Much better than previous staff members I've been served by.
The re-vamp is also a huge improvement to this pub and looks really good. Dog and child friendly local pub that's worth a visit.

We Visited this bar on 21st sept real locals pub with pool and darts. Excellent value at £4.00 for pint of cider and half of Lager. Like to have spent more time here.

Lovely welcoming.. thank you Josh... you are lovely... locals made us feel like one of their own.. very reasonable prices. Good selection of music.. cleverly chosen by asking he staff to play what you want

Turned away from Wetherspoons due to having small well behaved dog so went in this pub over the road cheap as chips & friendly locals £10 for 7 drinks and dog friendly

I would have rated it more but as for the look of disgust I received from the bar lady as my partner and I walked in a 22:45. With the look, she made the comment that the pub was closing in 5 minutes.
Do not recommend when that certain lady is on.
Go to the red lion on lower Lux street.

Husband and I there the end of April of 2017 while on a tour of Cornwall. Our B&B wasn't serving dinner, so we found this place in town. I had the most magnificent lasagna that I have ever had! This was better than what I have ever made and I want to know how it was made My husband had the steak and ale pie, which was also wonderful! I am trying to find a web site for them to ask the cook what they did to that lasagna that made it so amazing! If anyone can give me that contact information, I would appreciate it. They were also very nice and brought us our food quickly as we were very hungry by the time we arrived. Pleasant experience!

You remember the classic but notorious scene in An American Werewolf in London where the two American students entered The Slaughtered Lamb pub in the middle of nowhere and everyone stops dead and turns around to stare at them in cold silence and bewilderment? That is exactly what happened to me. Twice. Not to be put of I still carried on drinking amongst the funny looks and snide comments.
Mind you, all this was quite some time back, but still one to avoid, period.

A normal pub in the center of town. The only one that seems to offer bar food. (Fish and chips £10, or a basket meal for about £7.) The music was unbearable! Too loud, and too many Irish jigs! Most of the customers seemed to be too drunk. (At 7pm)) One in particular was tiresome. We were going to eat here. But we just got fed up of the music, and the drunks.
