An unusual National Trust property in that the family still live in the house.
I found this concept a little odd and imagined myself in my own house, flouncing around on an upper floor in my breeches while strangers roamed my lounge below. Quite an image!
The house is full of paintings of royalty and noble folk from times gone by. I swear Charles the First manages to appear in nearly every National Trust House...
Obviously the family were not in any of the rooms as we walked around. It would have felt a little awkward had the owner been taking a bath in one of the large bathtubs that was on display.
Our trip concluded with a visit to the outside toilets, where we were intrigued to see a sign in the cubicle alerting us of roosting bats. I am yet to be interrupted by a bat while in a toilet, but there's always a first time.

This was our second visit to this lovely property. The cafe is small, but the staff were helpful and courteous, and our meals were delicious.
We waited outide the house, until admitted by a volunteer. She was knowledgeable and pleasant. The house is beautiful and we loved all of the rooms, each with its own lovely paintings and artefacts. The extensive grounds are beautiful, and well worth exploration. Staff member Clare was helpful and very pleasant. Thank you.

Lots of picture's of the family going back to Cromwell's time worth doing your home work on what you will see before your visit.
No not forget the leather jerkin. Look at the pictures/write up in the book shop of the Mary Rose.
Give the tea rooms a miss expensive and not much good. Take a flask or go to the local Pub

Beautiful, interesting house and stunning gardens and views. Loved the paintings and history of the property and family. Tea room lovely and good selection of drinks and food. All the staff inside the house, tearoom and welcome team were very informative and friendly. Would recommend. Extra bonus - The bug trail in the house super fun and the garden games are fantastic.

Really enjoyed this lovely National Trust House .
Beautifully kept gardens with a great little Tea Room
It was a really wet day but we still enjoyed the garden despite the rain.
The house is so interesting and the history is fascinating.
The volunteers really knew their stuff and were really keen to share the information.
One of our favourite NT properties !

National Trust stately home. Nice gardens, didn't go into the house itself. Nice cafe in the colonnades . Enjoyed watching the gardener mowing the lawn, usually my job to do that sort of thing!

Staff in the cafe were brilliant and food delicious. However, extremely unhygienic to have chickens running free in the rooms with chicken poo all over the floor. Would expect higher standards from the National Trust and probably would not eat there again.

Absolutely fantastic history, I really learnt and enjoyed so much on my visit, I can not recommend this place so much. The house is beautiful and the gardens exquisite. IN fact this place was used as the setting for the blockbuster 'Alice in Wonderland ', in fact I was offered a lead role but had to reject it due to commitments! On walking around the house I met my old chum DrTeddy, and if frequents there, then I cannot think of any reason why you shouldn't visit. I would also like to say a big thank you to all of the staff and phenomenal volunteers who keep the house and gardens looking so rich and perfect! Simply VISIT!

Have visited this hidden gem several times but this time with a large family group of varying ages.
Did not go in the house on this occasion but spent our time going around the excellent 'Summer of Play'. The children loved it such attention to detail with something for all ages. Tennis, cricket, egg and spoon, Jenga, den building, to name a few - great fun. Gardens, as always, well kept and colourful
Thanks to Alex for our warm informative welcome and friendly 'goodbye', equally important!.
Well done Antony and NT.

Very disappointing visit to Antony yesterday. We have visited the house and the beautiful, peaceful gardens on many occasions but yesterday was a very different experience. An extremely loud tractor was out mowing the lawns as soon as we arrived (at 1pm) and continued for almost 2 hours, which completed ruined our visit. When you consider the house is only open 4 days a week, with limited opening times of just 5 hours, you would expect this kind of work to be carried out when paying customers are not around. We have visited similar estates and gardens in England and abroad and have never experienced anything like this. Such a shame that the current residents of Antony do not appear to care about their paying customers.

No you have to walk down the lane next to the house to Jupiter Point to view the Royal Navy train ship HMS BRECON recently featured on BBC Countryfile
