The Christmas Carol was a family tradition for my wife's family when she was growing up and one that we were hoping to continue with our kids. We have been to 6-7 of these shows throughout the years including some good ones at the Dallas Theatre Center.

The 2022 show was the WORST I have ever experienced - by a mile. While Scrooge was great (which is the only reason this gets 2 stars and not 1), the rest of the cast frankly lacked the talent I have seen in the past. The "ghosts" were all very questionably cast - that is the nicest way I can put it. The direction of the show was very politically oriented including changing major parts of a traditional classic. One example, the part of Marley was cast as a female.

This play is not the right forum to try and make political statements in my opinion. It is a traditional Christmas classic. From the poor casting, to the lack of total talent, to the very slow, boring ending, the director of the 2022 Christmas Carol has completely failed here. For what we paid, I was extremely disappointed.

We traditionally have a large group of 7-10 people that attend. We won't be going back any time soon.

I love to visit all of FL Wright's buildings so we were in the area and I had to drive by. It was a disappointment.

The theatre insists you induce irreversible harm and possibly death before you go.
They do not support their supporters
They do not accommodate any other entity than pure democrat
No free thinkers or free spirits free body’s
Only muzzled property’s of the state allowed in

This is the only Frank Lloyd Wright designed building in the Dallas area and it needs our support. It's off the Katy Trail and convenient to downtown amenities. The theater is small and quaint. I decided to take my daughter to see Little Women and the performance was great. She was mesmerized. We were pleasantly surprised to see this is in our city! I never knew. Check it out!

Wife and I visited the theatre! Small venue parking was good. Not really a theatre person but enjoyed the experience. Tickets from $60 - 80 bucks. Various shows. Seating was a little tight but doable. Definitely would attend again! Change of pace date night for me and the wife.

I had heard very good things about this company, so I purchased gift tickets for a family member. I received the tickets only to find out that they would expire at the end of the current season--only three weeks away. Even after elevating my complaint to two supervisors, the box office refused to refund or even exchange the gift tix for next season. They have a "policy," you see. Basically, I paid over $100 for nothing. They then had the gall to suggest that maybe they could arrange a way for me to donate the tickets back so that they could sell them a second time. No chance.

So, in short, this is not a comment on the quality of performances or the venue but on their shady sales practices.

This is one of three remaining theaters in the United States designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, & it has the iconic honor of being the last completed architectural design of
his life (construction from 1955-1959), nine months after his death. The theater has been an historic landmark in Dallas since its completion. The location of the theater was genius: situated in Turtle Creek in the heart of Dallas (@ the time), & along one of the most picturesque landscapes near the downtown area. The design & placement of the theater was an ideal expression of Wright's "Organic Theory of Architecture," which stressed the unification of both form & function embodied in the essence of the final creation. In short, Wright made every attempt to create architecture that was both efficiently functional to its use, & aesthetically at peace with the surrounding landscape. The Dallas Theater Center is an outstanding example of Wright's incredible vision & skills. Upon opening, the theater was known as the "Kalita Humphreys Theater," in recognition of an actress who gave significant support to the theater & also was the personal assistant to the first director director of the center. In 2008, the administrative structure of the theater was incorporated into the Dee & Charles Wyly Theater for the Performing Arts located in the Dallas Art District. The Turtle Creek location remained the physical home to the Dallas Theater Center. The theater has seen several additions & renovations that have not detracted from Wright's original design. The venue of productions are diverse ranging from holiday classics to new & experimental performances that make the theater a most interesting site to review throughout the year. There are no bad seats in the 400+ theater, & seating is spacious & comfortable. Plenty of on-site parking. Safe area of town.

This may well be the most unique venue I've ever visited for seeing incredible theater performances. We saw "The Christmas Carol" and it had an unbelievable set, cast, and sound, and music. The performance was equal to any I've seen in New York or London. The Dallas Theater Center has plenty of parking despite being located in the downtown Dallas area.

I have ripped Kevin Moriarty for his rendition of the Christmas Carol for the last 10 years. OMG...this year blew me away. My holiday emotions ran so high I could hardly keep a dry eye. I am so blessed by this years redention and will sing it from the rooftops. This was the best I can remember in 25 years, God bless us everyone for sure. Thank you to all for making this such a marvelous experience.

This show is performed Downtown at Arts District on Ross St. near Flora St.

I did not see HAIR when it premiered 50 years ago. I was familiar with the music, but had little idea what to expect. Music and Movement are central to this production and the band is center stage - they rehearsed with the cast and became an integral part of the production. The theater-in-the-round set design and interaction with the actors throughout the show bonded us - and we became part of the performing Tribe. The barriers between actors and audience were shattered as the performers danced and sang to and with the audience. It takes trust to put yourself out there, to expose yourself, and feel accepted. Perhaps that's one of the intended take-aways...We need to start Trusting one another again.
The Dallas Theater Center's new production is a stunning achievement. It is a transformative theatrical experience not to be missed.
