Lovely garden and glad to make a donation to charity which is a lovely idea. Although the recommendation is 1 - 2 hours to see it we had seen the entire garden in a very short time even when exploring all the paths. I think 30 mins - 1 hour is more realistic.

This is a very beautiful garden open throughout the summer season as part of Scottish Open Gardens. A donation of £5 per person in aid of Cancer Research is made into a donation box and you are then free to explore the garden. There are many small paths leading you from one garden room to another. Whilst the azelas and rhododendrons were especially good there were many other interesting trees and shrubs, some dating back to when the garden was laid out as an Arts and Crafts garden. Additional special touches are a natural rock waterfall c 50ft high at the back of the garden and a lovely bench seat high up overlooking a flock of wire sheep on one of the lawns, across the garden and out to a view of the sea and local islands. On a sunny day one not to be missed.

This a wonderful garden in a stunning location and is always well worth visiting. Access is in return for a £5 charity donation. We have visited several times over the years and love the hillside paths, but they are now rather overground and in need of work.

We spent an hour or more walking through this very personal garden and enjoying the surprises that were around every corner and behind every hedge.

Really enjoyed the scenery along the coast driving to this secluded spot, which was reasonably signposted.
Payment is by donation in an honesty box at top of drive.
The gardens are lovely and clearly well tended, with lots of nice little features, with a home made "Geoff Hamilton" type charm.
The shelter decorated with thousands of pine cones of many varieties was wonderful to see.
The house looks interesting and it would have been good to see a bit of information re the history of the home and garden together

If we had seen it in sunshine, we might have been even more impressed

A beautiful established (1930’s?) garden with lots of hidden delights and different areas to enjoy. Sunny day in may when we visited. Could have spent much longer and soaked it up much more. This is s garden not to be hurried. Started

Very interesting garden. By late August, much of the planting was past its best in this particularly difficult gardening year - must have been stunning in May/June! But still very interesting to see the garden structure and the treatment of the concept of "rooms" and progression through the different areas. Lots of lovely hidden corners and pathways to lose your (older) children in! Take care on the slippery steps.
I like the way the current owner has re-interpreted the planting of this historic garden, and would like to visit earlier in the year to see it in a different mood. I see a negative review below, and wonder if an information leaflet could be produced to explain something about the garden's history for those who don't know this?

Found these gardens rather disappointing. Everything seemed rather neglected we thought. Overgrown paths and unpruned roses etc. The slippery path up through the garden was difficult to negotiate as well as being slippery it was very overgrown in places. A bit of TLC wouldn't go amiss.

We are staying on the island and this beauty of well maintained garden was a short 5 minute walk. Sign at the entrance says open garden charging £5 to view, donations towards cancer research. Well worth going in. The lady who owns the property was potting around doing the gardening and was very happy to talk to us and tell us the history of the property and Gardens. Waterfalls, seating areas, lovey hidden gems. It's a must when visiting the island!!
