By far the best pub in the village. Good company and good ale! Lovely view of duck pond and Village Green.

The Chippy is the heart of Coldred village, with master carpenter Rachel in charge. It opens for goin' home refreshment and stays open until abandoned or the license says so. So might close early.
Usually at least three live beers @3.50 and a wide choice of bottled ale.
Cosy open fire in the season and a hub for village activity.

Called in for a drink. Quiet but friendly, time warp 1970s ambience, friendly landlord and regulars at the bar. Good prices, good beer if a little too cold.

Really nice village pub set in a lovely location opposite a duck pond. Friendly owners and great selection of local ales.

I first visited this pub with my daughter - but had to return a few days later to show my husband what a lovely hidden gem we had found....
.
We were passing through the village and caught a glimpse of what looked to be a pub straight from the 60's - on entering down some steep stone steps we were warmly greeted by the landlord and the regulars - there was a choice of real ale and other local drinks available; because it is such a small pub there was not a huge choice (but a huge choice was not needed....especially as the landlord tries to have a different offering of Ale each time one visits :)
There was a real fire - and a super atmosphere - the landlord was happy to chat or leave you in peace - very attentive so you did not have a long wait to be served. Lovely to see a vintage till too. The prices were very reasonable and the local fruity cider I tried (Forager) was gorgeous.
There is no food, but we saw one customer bring their own, (which smelled delicious) but there are crisps and nuts etc.
I wil be visiting again - and hope others do too - to keep these unusual places open and alive.
