First and foremost- this is a wonderful house to stay at and overall our stay was great. However, there are some issues that we believe should be addressed. This was our first time using this house and rental company Outerbanks Blue so I’m not sure if the issues we saw were standard for these rental houses or not. I have attached photos so you can make an educated choice on if this is the house for you and your family to stay.
1. Nearly every window blind needed some type of repair mostly at the junction where it’s installed. The picture shows it was only held on by one tiny screw where they typically have three to four holding it in. They were still usable and functioned fine but at any given moment it seemed they would fall.
2. The grill was VERY cruddy had lots of moldy crusty meat on it. So we didn’t endup using the grill because we would have to clean it first significantly.
3. There was some type of electrical issue with the main dining area on the third floor. The dimmer switch would make the lights continuously go from dim to bright then back to dim. I’m thinking there may be a wiring issue. Again, not a huge issue but maybe it should be looked at.
4. The shower head in the second floor bathroom sprayed water all over. It should probably be replaced it looked like the junction where it screws on is either corroded or cracked. Also, the safety handle was hanging out of one side.
5. The toilet paper holders for the toilets in multiple bathrooms all fell off the wall when you use them. It looked as though the stopper on the handle part was missing.
6. Lastly, we found SEVERAL Cockroaches in MULTIPLE rooms and surfaces!!!! See photos attached. The locations we found them are as follows: third floor around the fireplace and in corner by the fridge. Second floor, bunk bed room in closet where the furnace and plumbing are located. Second floor bathroom under sink cabinets. Second floor master bathroom on wall by the shower.
We were pretty grossed out at the fact there were cockroaches and hope we didn’t accidentally bring any home with us! But despite all the issues listed above we enjoyed our stay and hope the review will be taken seriously and the necessary care is taken to fix and remove the “unwanted parasitic guests“ from the home. All things considered if the issues are corrected we absolutely would stay at this home again.
